My boys love football. They would love to see Mike the tiger. Am I crazy for considering going to this game with my 6 & 8 yr old sons? Never been to Tiger Stadium. Let me hear what you think.

If you like other 6 and 8 year olds cussing at you, then yeah...

If they can handle their corndog scent for multiple hours.

What ratings do you typically allow your children to watch?

If you're comfortable at R or NC-17 AND like the smell of corn dogs, you are good to go.

Check the weather forecast for Baton Rouge. Rain + drunken corndog tards could make for a miserable kid experience.

If you are the only adult male in the group absolutely not. You need at least one other adult guy with you. Unless you are really stout you and two children will be a soft target for a couple of drunken aholes to pick on.

The one time I went to that stadium I watched Florida beat them. I was in the LSU section wearing neutral colors. I can't tell you how many drinks and other things were thrown into the Florida fan section because they had the audacity to cheer when their team scored.

Maybe that was a one off, but one thing is guaranteed. A night game in Baton Rouge against a team they hate when the Tigers are down and out equals high emotions and high blood alcohol content levels.

It was bad enough in Kyle last year - had a row of them sitting directly behind us cussing and drinking like fish and spitting all over us as they hooped and hollered it up. Then Marcel came in and shut them up. By Q4, they were long gone.

Its not safe for anybody, I quit going to games there 25 years ago. I have been to probably 20 games before that so have a pretty good sample size.

No wonder their home record is so good

I have been to a night game there as a neutral fan (after it rained all day) and I don't recommend it. The only way your kids won't get hit by flying objects or cussed at is if LSU runs away with it. Add in the rain, and I don't see an enjoyable outcome here. Bring them back when fully grown.

Been there for the game 2 years ago. I've never been verbally abused outside the stadium unprovoked as I was at LSU. On top of that during the game the majority of their songs and cheers have profanity in them. Not something I would expose my kids to…

I stumbled onto a thread on tigerdroppings a couple of weeks ago describing how bad the environment around the stadium has gotten. This is from the LSU fans:

Drug dogs on campus is the answer to cleaning up LSU gameday

Here is a more recent thread about the plans for the Ag game. Evidently the governor is taking the problems there seriously.

Landry Orders Louisiana State Police To Work With LSU Ahead of TAMU Game

Once in the stadium, the atmosphere may be marginally OK for your group but you still have to get there. I'm not sure I would take my kids unless I had plenty of adult male "supervision".

Oh, and don't forget to wash after visiting that site. Wash, and probably a strong dose of penicillin.

Some Thoughts:

* I would not bring 6 & 8 year old's to the student section in Kyle Field in
a close SEC rival game. Cussing is really bad.
The rest of Kyle Field is Great.

* I have been to Tiger Stadium and will not go back. It is not Kid or Adult friendly.
It is the 2nd worst college stadium experience behind Colorado University in Bolder
in all of College Football. Cussing, Picking Fights & Throwing Objects...

I'd take them because they can go in the stores and buy your beer and lung darts while you wait in the car !!

I took my boys to the tailgates when they were 5, Louisiana state police gave them slap bracelets that had a message about drinking too much gets you real bracelets, so they are prepared for kids at least

Terrible idea.

Take them to the zoo to see a tiger.

lsu is trash, trash fans for a trash rogue football program. I would not even subject a 16 and 18 year old to it.

Seriously? It's that bad? I could be wrong but I remain skeptical that it isn't safe.

If you are comfortable with some colorful language then you should be fine. It depends on your 6 & 8 year old. My 6 years old would think a bunch of rowdy people would be awesome.

Read through the first link in my post above. The LOCALS are very concerned with the shootings in the tailgate areas this year. This isn't from biased rival fans. Multi-generational fans are looking at giving up their tickets because the tailgate scene has gotten so bad. They are calling for the State Police and even the National Guard to have a heightened presence.

Not sure this is the year for 6 or 8 year olds.

As long as you don't start any fights and are great representation of Aggies, take them for sure. Watching their Dad should always be good for them. I hope you go, and they have a hugely memorable night.

College football games are not near as family friendly as they were back in the day, including Kyle Field.
Alcohol sales inside the stadium have about 95% to do with that. Its honestly pretty sad.

Having said that I took my kids to Baton Rouge in 2021 when they were 5 and 12 and we didn't have a single issue. Yeah you have to have a little thick skin but 99% is good natured ragging. Its to be expected.

FWIW, Alabama was way more of a problem than LSU was . When a drunk middle aged man throws an empty beer can at your 13 year old son at a red light...yeah you tend to lose your cool and react aggressively.

Agree.

I think navigating the crowds leaving a night game there w/ 2 young kids would be more work than fun.

And, as I've seen posted on TigerDroppings the last couple weeks, the crowds outside the stadium have gotten a little different recently.

I went when Johnny played there. The weather was bad and we ran out time, but had a great time otherwise. If a couple goobers yelling "Tiger Bait" offends you, then stay home. Otherwise go and have fun

Been to a bunch of games.
Never been assaulted.
But the language and the drunks before the game even starts is terrible.
I'd wait till they were older.
