College football games are not near as family friendly as they were back in the day, including Kyle Field.
Alcohol sales inside the stadium have about 95% to do with that. Its honestly pretty sad.

Having said that I took my kids to Baton Rouge in 2021 when they were 5 and 12 and we didn't have a single issue. Yeah you have to have a little thick skin but 99% is good natured ragging. Its to be expected.

FWIW, Alabama was way more of a problem than LSU was . When a drunk middle aged man throws an empty beer can at your 13 year old son at a red light...yeah you tend to lose your cool and react aggressively.

I don't know how it gets much more family friendly than Kyle Field? My kids always have a great time, never feel unsafe and hear very few cuss words on a typical day. This sounds like the guy on the Metroplex board that is terrified to visit North Park mall.

Not a good idea IMO. Two years ago (not a night game) I had my 6 year old there and had a couple guys yelling "Aggies are a bunch of f****** thugs!" literally the row right behind us (Which is rich coming from people presumably living in BR).

Anecdotal story?… maybe, but probably not

I never said Kyle Field was " unsafe"
I just said " it is not as family friendly as it was back in the day"...which is 100% accurate.

And you have drunks and language at Kyle Field just as you do any other stadium in the country. Dont pretend Kyle Field is some sort of Magic Kingdom. Is there less than most stadiums, probably so, but it still occurs.

My LSU father-in-law is a season ticket holder. He won't take my 14-year-old son.

It is Godforsaken place. I will never attend another game there.

Have them lift weights and participate in MMA for 10 years. Then take them.

I wouldn't take young kids to a night game there. Its not that you'll necessarily get into fights but the language, taunts, etc. towards anyone in opposing team colors will be too much for young kids.

Seriously, a large portion of the LSU "fans" that you'll encounter are not people that should be allowed to gather in public. Not all fans, but a very large portion.

What folks are saying is that your typical Louisiana LSU tshirt fan is an aggressive, problem drinker. Their alumni also drink an amazing amount, but in my experience are generally friendlier.

I went in 2019. The home crowd either ignored us, treated us like anyone else, or the 1% who said tiger bait. Its tame. Go if you want to go. Mike is cool.

I have family who went to LSU, and I have been to many games in that stadium wearing purple and gold. I was at a night game last year and didn't feel safe walking to car wearing LSU gear. Don't go!

Unfornately, not a one off. Thankfully, I have only had this bad of an experience at LSU and Colorado. And this includes being in Lubbock when they threw their own goal field post into the stands where then Gov Perry was close by, and multiple bad behaviors at Boone Pickens.

If you and your kids really, really want to go see the tiger, wear LSU colors and don't yell/speak/mumble for the Aggies.

I have a question.

If you don't say 'Real talk' before you ask the question, will everybody that reads it thereafter think you weren't serious?

This has been my experience also, Alabama was much worse than the LSU games I've been to. LSU just felt like good natured taunting (though you do need to be mentally prepared for that), Alabama fans were just straight up rude and seemed like they were all having a horrible time.

I'm not sure I'd take my young kids to either though. I think they would have been fine at any of the LSU games I've been to, but I've heard enough bad experiences I probably wouldn't go until they're older. We take them to lots of games, but we stick to away games that are typically known to be nicer environments.

Remember when a roommate went in 1974. Said he was hit with empty whiskey bottle. I think things may have improved. MAYBE.

I went to an Aggie game there with a couple that had season tickets that were LSU fans. I remember them all lining along the road and giving the finger and F bombing the FTAB. Then when the band was lined up before halftime in the end zone, they had large junks of ice thrown at them. Remember vividly watching a tuba getting dented from a large hunk of ice.
They cuss and are vulgar as hell if they see your an Aggie. This was in 1992 and we won 31-22 I think.
It was hot as hell also.
I swore I would never go back….and never have.
I did business in Louisiana and enjoyed calling on the people there. But LSU fans at the game…holy moly!

I still don't believe it would be that terrible and think OP and his kids should go if they all want to.

As with anything else in life... be smart about surroundings, wear Aggie gear but expect some banter and rowdy fans, plan your visit thoughtfully and I'm sure your kids will enjoy Mike the tiger and an Aggie game at Death Valley

I've been to several games at night in BR. There is absolutely no way I'd take my eight year old now. These cats throw things (beer bottles at the opposing teams bus as they enter). Just no…

Just make sure you don't wear any Aggie gear, maybe even get some LSU gear and don't allow yourself to show in any way that you are pulling for the Ags.

Make sure your car has no Aggie decals or is maroon with Texas plates.

My boys love football. They would love to see Mike the tiger. Am I crazy for considering going to this game with my 6 & 8 yr old sons? Never been to Tiger Stadium. Let me hear what you think.

As you can see, the responses are from TexAgs ******* who are still wearing masks.

Man up & make your own decision. Decide what you want your kids to hear. Even at 6 & 8, you'd be surprised at what they have already heard from their private or public school.

If you like hanging around the worst fanbase in all of college sports, go on ahead. Every experience for me there has been terrible because of those arrogant azzhats. I'm not kidding when I say there were 7 year olds cursing at us and talking ****.

Only reason I'm making this trip this year is because I know a few friends of mine that go to LSU and because I think we are going to kick their azzes.

I've been there and saw them pee in a cup and throw it on Aggie fans. That's when I realized why they call it death valley.....because you go to the game and come home with hepatitis. I'll never go back and I wouldn't recommend anyone take kids there...

I took my son at age 10. He's 22 now and still talks about it. We went 2 other times. Best road trips ever. Don't act stupid and you'll have a great time.

The most disgusting, vulgar experience in 50 years going to college football I've ever had at a football game was an Aggie in AC 2 at Kyle Field.

This. I took my then 5 yo son, and BIL and 5 yo nephew when JFF was playing, BIL and son in full purple/gold, me and mine full maroon. Was raining that day (afternoon game) and we lost. Had good seats in one of the LSU season ticket lower levels, so rifraf pwt factor was low where we were. Until they played Neck. The two teenagers behind us were chiming in and I flew into a blind rage, stood up and expressed my disdain for their vulgarity in the presence of little ones, and then sat down and watched the rest of the game.

Avoid the student section. They cuss alot and throw things.
I've been to several games in BR, and used to be, it was a festive environment, expect some Tiger Bait chants, but overall enjoyable and probably find some good food and amicable people. But now, its turned. Even the LSU folks are leery of going. On campus shootings are not my idea a great time.

I wouldnt take mine to a night game there now.

It's a great idea if you're trying to teach your kids what it's like to be an ICE agent in Portland.

I say do it. Your kids have to learn to be men at some point.
