You are thinking like a reasonable person and that does not work for this system.

The g5 actually gets preferrential treatment.

The 4 highest ranked conference champs get in. If one of those 4 happens to be a g5, they still have to put ANOTHER g5 team in.

How a g5 conference champ doesnt satisfy that requirement is an enormous oversight.

Just change the rule to "the field must have at least one g5 school. Period."

Bama was 1st team out last year. Committee will not do that one again.

It will be funny if they put Miami in over ND now to get a ACC team in the playoff. But my guess is Duke winning the conference actually helps in justification to leave Miami out.
