I have come on here and been very respectful of Texas A&M....even talking about how they should keep their head up after the Texas loss. Now they want to laugh and **** on Notre Dame....ok. But I'll make sure and return the favor when you lose in the playoffs.

This is brilliant, its ND fans summed up perfectly. Come talk crap to a team you lost to at home, that made the playoffs over you, and then say you will back to talk crap when you lose- all because you are a spoiled brat who doesn't think the rules apply to. Come back and talk, but be sure to include that no matter what happens in the playoffs A&M beat you at home and kept you out of the playoffs and nothing from here on out can make our season be less successful than ND season.

I do anticipate your return. Oh the zingers you will be able to have.

You guys suck…. almost as bad as we do.

You guys are losers, but we bigger losers because you beat us at home.

At least we don't lose our bowl, because quitting is better than losing to a team with a pulse.

The possibilities are endless.

ND fans are the worst.

dont let a couple guys on an internet forum speak for the whole fan base.

I think ND was playing as well as anyone in the nation, it sucks they got left out and I completely understand not wanting to play in a meaningless bowl game that only has downside

Of the ten teams "opting out" of bowl games, only three were even bowl eligible, ND, K-State and Iowa State. The last two opted out because of HC changes.

Everyone else were 5 win teams who should have NOT been bowl eligible in the first place.

Yes, I'm glad those teams declined. Have some self-respect and acknowledge you don't deserve it in the first place. Good on them.

A number of those 5 win teams had already been released for the year, not expecting to get another game.

It isn't just opting out for dignity, but also having to drag everyone back together in the next 2-3 weeks.

I loathe ND but expecting ANY football team to play in a non-playoff bowl game in the modern era is hot garbage. A team would want to play in the Pop-Tarts Bowl why? A fun trip to Orlando? A goodie bag? Who cares - it won't affect their draft stocks, won't put more money in their pockets, and won't get them a shot at a national title. Only arguments I've heard for playing in a bowl game are 1) two more weeks of practice (laughable reasoning), 2) good for the university (these players are mercenaries. They care about themselves - not the schools), 3) good for the fans (see 2), and 4) playing in a prestigious NY6 bowl (oh wait - those are playoff games too).

This happened because of the playoffs being introduced. Either have a 16 or 32-team playoff (like every other sport) or have a 2 or 4-team playoff. You cannot have playoffs and meaningful post-season bowl games (or conference championships) at the same time.

Hadn't considered that but likely a big factor as well. BUT in the SEC it is the conference office that work with the bowl partners to make the selections. So until Birmingham tells teams they are done for the year when in the five win category, they are not done.

Sark had an interesting comment when they asked if the horns considered opting out like ND. He said absolutely not and talked about using the bowl prep to get better and evaluate his team and get people a chance to play without losing eligibility.

I'll be here, Charlie31.....lets see how the Aggies do in the playoffs and Aggies last National Championship....1939....

LOL. Read the room. A&M is not the only ones making fun of ND right now for acting like a spoiled brat.

Also not sure if you have noticed...ND hasn't won a national title since the BCS started in 1988. Everything before that was based on "the eye test". And when ND has had the best TV contract on NBC (before cable)....it was easy to be the fan favorites.

In case you're ever wondering why ND has so many fans, it was because ND games were on national TV every week before cable. Same trick the Cowboys pulled with TV rights back in the day and it made them America's team.
