They don't want to play teams with a winning record because they lose those games.

Wait! This can't be correct, can it?A newsy wrinkle from Bevacqua: As part of an MOU signed last spring, Notre Dame is assured of a CFP berth if it is ranked in the top 12 starting next year.

If this year’s situation unfolds next year, the final at-large team (Miami) would have gotten bumped for No. 11 Notre Dame.
If that's real, every school needs to stop scheduling ND. That is absolute bs
It's not BS. It's literally how it should be for every team. What the hell is the point of ranking teams if it doesn't mean anything?
One Go5 being invited each year is lawsuit prevention. ACC needs to fix their tiebreakers. Everyone needs to include OOC losses in tiebreakers.Scotty Appleton said:
No love for ND, but I would like to see more of the fringe teams do the same. JMU & Tulane don't belong The committee bullshat needs to change. Ags should be ranked above Oregon at the least. I have no problem with Miami in over ND, but Miami should have been ranked higher the past few weeks. Anything that throws shade at the selection criteria is a good thing IMO.

Regardless of whether the snub was justified or not, opting out of a bowl game is a stupid business decision under the circumstances. Bowl games give a team three more weeks of practice (essentially an extra spring practice). They threw that away. In this case, they have a running back with a legitimate shot at a trip to New York for the Heisman ceremony, so what do they do? They throw a public tantrum that is guaranteed to piss off more than a few of those traditional Heisman voters. I think Jeremiyah Love can safely make alternative plans for that weekend now.

Heisman is awarded before the bowl games. He will be fine.

I don't get your point. Neither the timing of the ceremony or the bowl games has anything to do with who wins. The timing of the voting does, however.
Heisman votes are due tomorrow. The general consensus was that many voters were holding out their votes until after this weekend's games, when at least four Heisman hopefuls were playing in championship games. Like I said, Notre Dame's tantrum came at a bad time when one of its players will need every vote he can get just to be a finalist. Not a good time to piss off the voters.

I have come on here and been very respectful of Texas A&M....even talking about how they should keep their head up after the Texas loss. Now they want to laugh and **** on Notre Dame....ok. But I'll make sure and return the favor when you lose in the playoffs.

How does Miami move up 2 spots and ND drop a spot when neither team played? BYU lost and dropped a spot but Bama lost and didn't? Just be consistent.
I don't really care that ND missed out but their losses are to two ranked teams by a total of 4 points. Miami's losses are to unranked teams including one at home.
The Committee was playing games. They put BYU between ND and Miami so they could avoid the head to head. Then BYU s*** the bed and ND and Miami were next to each other. They could no longer avoid the issue. Yurachek further told Committee members to actually watch that game between Miami and ND before they decided.
Now as for Bama, all I've got is that number one priority was NOT to penalize a CCG participant for losing that extra game.

Part of me doesn't blame them. I hope this breaks the current model. The #20 and #24 teams made the playoff and they didn't.
Would be awesome if BYU opts out a well just to prove a point.
BYU won't move the needle.
But Notre Dame and Texas will Force changes if they both opt out.
Probably although Texas doing it would be epic entitlement since they wouldn't have made playoff even if it was really the top 12 teams.
I do find this funny that ND didn't make it, FTR. I mostly despise them so this brings me joy but they are getting hosed all the same.

BS, if anything Notre Dame could use it as an opportunity to prove the committee wrong. But they decided to throw a fit instead.
A&M was snubbed for Notre Dame in 2020, but there were almost no opt outs for the Orange Bowl and we won big and proved our point.
It's embarrassing for them and childish. What kind of lesson are you teaching by doing that?
