Yes it was an amazing season. We went 11-1 in the regular season and made the playoffs. Virtually everyone on texags and all national pundits predicted 8-4. Now those same losers want to cry about 11-1 with a playoff loss.

Given we're in year 2 of Elko, given his 2026 and 2027 recruiting, given how well they hit in the portal last off season, it was absolutely a success and I'm very excited to see what happens next year

Yes. Because if you told me on Aug 15 we would go 11-2 and make the playoffs I would have jumped on it.

I think the program is in a better place each of the last 2 years. I think next year will see a step back in record but the recruiting seems to be building the roster.

Pre-season projections had us rated #8 in the SEC. And this is only Elko's 2nd season as HC. I'll let you figure it out for yourself.

If your definition of a successful season is a natty, then no, but that also means 135 teams have a failure of a season. Honestly, this team overachieved based on early season expectations from most who know ball. 11-2 in year 2 of a head coach is movement in the right direction, but we need to see what happens over the next 2-3 seasons. If we regress and fall back into a perennial 8-9 win seasons and don't sniff the playoff again, then this will be just a blip on the radar and a disappointment. If we can start winning 10-11 games per season and win a natty in the next 5 years, then I will view this season as a successful stepping stone to the future. We will see.

No. Turned out to be easy schedule. Win big. We lost more big games than won. Fell apart end of season like usual. Elko wants the big money but won't make the big decisions. He's too loyal. We should not be loyal to him. Win first. He is slightly above average coach because keep in mind he had a higher than average budget on players.

Great, probably not. Very good, yes. Major step forward for the program. Still a lot of work to do to be truly competitive at the next level which is truly competing for a national championship.

Way too many people today are knee jerk reacting which is par for the course on TexAgs. However, the moves by Elko this offseason will be interesting and will tell us about his commitment to do whatever is necessary to win a championship.

Who cares man? It's over. Whether it's a success or failure does that change the result? Are you gonna decide to watch next year based on the answer or regardless?

1-11 on College Gameday.

2 years in a row. Win or go home game AT KYLE FIELD. Defense gave up 27 total points. ZERO offensive touchdowns combined in both games.

The team didn't learn their lesson from last year, and it probably won't change next year.

And based on the press conferences by Elko, Klein, Reed, York, and company…. they don't seem to care. Their wallets are still full.

So back to my question… why do you care?

There's no disputing that it was an improvement on our modern history and expectations.

We've been wanting to raise standards here and ditch moral victories, and I think Elko has done that to an extent.

But it's a game, and we all know what the definition of success is in a win or lose game.

Losing games we should have won makes this season a dud in my opinion. We were favorites and top 5 and lost at sip. Then favorites and at home and lost to Miami in CFP. Those 2 games killed any success this season had goin for it.

I believe this will be Elko's best season in his 5 or 6 year run. I expect that we will be mediocre for the next 2 or 3 seasons with the reason being that the program is rebuilding. 8 and 5 will be our average record. We might pull a 9 win season somewhere in the middle or in the 5th year. That might help him survive for a 6th.

Successful? Heck yeah, my ceiling was 9 wins at the beginning of the season. 11 Win total is not shabby.

Yeah, I'm sure there are a lot of rational, well reasoned data points that lead you to believe that the most successful start to a head coaching career in A&M history has peaked.

YES - despite the loss to t.u. & the 1st round CFP loss to Miami. An absolute & resounding YES.

We achieved far greater success this season since at least 2012 and going back to the SWC days in the 90s.

We showed progress versus 2024 and are in year 2 of Elko.

So - YES.

Now we need to continue to see growth and progress to keep the program elevated to the level that we are a yearly CFP team. Screw winning the SEC conference - it's now a nice to have versus a need to have.

No, we didn't take any hardware home. Losing to our rival and missing a chance at the SEC championship and then capping the season off by only scoring 3 points at home is not success.
