Better than what we are used to, but no not a success.

You won't see Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon, lsu, tu celebrate losing in the first round of the playoffs.

for us, probably. The given is that a season always ends in disappointment. This year's disappointment came much later than usuall. Therefore relative success.

The playoff team I thought would struggle the most this year was ole piss due to the loss of their HC and other staff members. Boy I was WRONG!
Sick and tired of mediocre season after season.

We lost the first playoff game because we lost to tu and gave the voters an excuse to drop us down to the 7 spot so we would have to face a real playoff team. Look at the opponent ole miss and oregon got for jumping us in the poll. THIS is the reason we needed to beat sip much more so than just the bragging rights crap that everybody focuses on.

We had a much better record than I predicted, in large part thanks to an easier than expected schedule.

Who''s celebrating? We had a great year, but the last two games magnified our issues. IMO, our issues are not schemes or play calling but personnel. Thr Portal, maturity, and continuing to get stronger and faster should be our off-season goals.

Not sure I can say yet. Had we won either of the last 2 games, it would have felt successful, but there's no doubt a bad taste after the results. I think a lot of it will be determined by how we respond next year (like it or not, Elko).

To be great, we had to win today. We did outperform, which good on the team doing that, but until we beat more better teams, no one is going to take us seriously. Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately), we'll have plenty of opportunities for that next year, but we'll need a minimum of 9 wins on that schedule to feel like this season was "successful" as Ags don't want flash in the pan but sustained success.

A lot of work needs to get done, so we'll see if Elko is up for the task!

If offered an 11-2 year preseason, every single one of you would have taken it in a heartbeat and been ecstatic.

It wasn't a perfect year, but it was a damn good one and I'm hopeful for what Elko can do in year 3. These results should help convince more elite players that they can be part of something special.
Thanks and gig'em

It was a good season.

Did we win anything? No.

Did it end poorly, Yes.

Did we extend another coach for no reason? Yes.

it wasn't for no reason. Jumping into this coaching carousel would have ended badly.

But Elko has choked to end the year two years in a row. I have doubts about him.

Good season followed by the typical late season collapse. The usual choke kings. Elko is, at best, a middling coach. Congrats fat boy on another meh season.

What stuns me is the disappointment in our vaunted stable of running backs we thought we had and the apparent lack of results from that vaunted strength and conditioning coach

After over 30 years of Aggie football I just wanted to see entertaining games against Texas and Miami. Let me see that we are indeed taking steps forward regardless of win or loss. It feels almost too predictable that we are going to look terrible in high profile games.

That's where I wanted to see change, like Indiana beating Oregon, at Autzen no less, and Ohio State.

A coach has taken a perennial doormat and transformed them into a contender. I've been hoping for a season like that since I graduated over a quarter of a century ago the year we won our last conference championship.

Sadly, while Elko did some things where others might have failed, these last two games have not inspired hope for the future, but more of the same.

Beat a bunch of bottom feeders and lost the only two meaningful games with a combined 13 points scored.

This is failure. Had Klein not left, he should have been unceremoniously fired.

We lucked into an awful schedule and were mostly unimpressive week in and out.

How many of those 10 wins against bottom feeders were nail-biters?

We were lucky to survive many of those games.

Anybody itt would've accepted an11-1 regular season full stop coming in, no questions asked. You don't have to feel good about it tonight or tomorrow, but it's a successful season for this program, period.

Make playoffs = good season
Win a playoff game = great season

If we finished 12-2 with a win today and loss to Ohio state I'd have zero complaints.

To me the playoffs are like Omaha in baseball now. The goal is to get there, but nobody wants to be the team that goes 0fer

Ultimately not a successful season, which I define in today's terms as winning a national championship. By that definition we have not had a successful season since 1939. Now in the past, a successful season could be one where you won your conference and a big bowl game. That hasn't happened at A&M since 1987.

2025 was an incredibly fun season. I came into the season with a show me mentality and an expectation of 6-6. They far exceeded my expectation, and they showed me in 11 straight games. But like 2024, they failed in November/December.

Superlatives - winning at Notre Dame and LSU
Terrible - first half against South Carolina, Marcel Reed's sudden inability to distinguish his receivers from opponents after that amazing comeback win over the cock gobblers, and piss-poor play/coaching against the sips and Canes.

I suppose it depends on what we are comparing it to. To our normal standard over the past 30 years? Yes, it was a very good season.

We were very fortunate to have what turned out to be an easy schedule, but the standard A&M team would have lost to Notre Dame, dropped a game or two to one of the middling/bad teams, lost to Texas, and not made the playoff. Beating Notre Dame, winning all of the games against average/bad teams, and making the playoff is an improvement.

On the other hand, we looked like a pretty unimpressive team for most of the year and easily could have been 9-3 or 8-4 with a few different bounces. 6-6 or 7-5 with next year's schedule would not be shocking.

Why or why not?
I don't know what the team goals were.

I really want to say it was but my heart says no.

Explain.

Successful and great were what I would have called it until tu.

I understand why others may still believe it has been.

I don't because losing against tu always sucks and doing it in what was probably the most watched game in Texas and largely watched nationally, substantiated those who said we were overrated.

Miami did not beat us, we lost. 326 yards and only a field goal to show for it??? At home??? That is flat out embarrassing!

The last drive, and the other times we have played well, show we have the potential to win the championship. But the inconsistencies are unreal. When we play bad, it is pitiful.

And then Reed forcing the ball into interceptions like he's a freshman, in his first game. That first interception today wasn't even close, unless he was trying to throw it to Miami. We can't compete with those mental mistakes.

So, by the lost potential I would not call this a great season. It will be a footnote in Aggie football history. Winning against tu would have made it great, Winning against Miami would have made it fantastic.

No one respects our season now.

I am just sad.
I got caught up. Again.
Realistically I knew winning it all would be a long shot. But a playoff win at Kyle Field.
Why do I allow myself to hope. Just deflated.

Absolutely not. I consider this a paper tiger season. We lost to tu and then was one and done in the playoffs.

This was a successful season for number crunchers. Not for fans. This was one of the worst ever for fans.

If we don't win it all, it was not a successful season.

Maybe a productive season, but not a successful one.

Successful? Debatable

Exceeded expectations? A million percent. No chance in hell any of y'all predicted we would finish 11-1 and host a playoff game

What hurts the most is we'll never have an easier SEC schedule than this one so you have to take advantage of seasons like this

Any season that doesn't end in a championship of some form is a HUGE waste of resources.
