Yep….I'm rooting for him to lose.

Actually I hope his key assistant is distracted at the most critical point in the season and craps the bed when all eyes are on him.

That would be nice.

Im a vengeful mf though.

Klein did the same job this week that he's done his entire time here.

Agreed. Klein has been very good at times. Also made some terrible calls. Both of which we saw versus Miami.

Wiggins scares me to be honest. I sure hope Elko knows what he is doing as this is risky OC hire IMO.

I've resigned two jobs in my life. The first I didn't do jack **** for the two weeks. I ****ed around all day and didn't give a **** about ensuring a smooth handover. The second time I went to a competitor and was immediately walked out. If this happens to us minions at the bottom, imagine some millionaire coach?

I mean, our only other option was to give Wiggins the play calling duties cold turkey, and I'm not too sure how involved he was with CKs play calling (using CKs offense) in general. Idk, I feel like we had our backs to the wall on this one and had to follow through win CK.

A decent Reed wins this game easily. Reed sucked however

This board is 95% emotion, 5% rational thought.

After we lose a game, they have to find ways to make everything suck. Elko sucks, Klein sucks, despite us winning 11, they have to make sure we wall know this season ACTUALLY sucked.

The internet is a pit and sports fan boards are even worse than average.

Orrrrr maybe…just maybe we played the easiest schedule we'll see for quite some time which only masked the inevitable that was exposed by Texas and Miami. 11 wins on paper looks great but your post captures the loser mentality culture of this program. There is literally nothing to show for this year besides some individual awards. No sec champ. Bounced in first round of playoffs at home. Emotions removed…we suck haha.

I think we should've told Klein thanks and goodbye. Hand the playcalling over to Wiggins who is at least still invested in the team. It's a good try out for the OC job. If he's terrible, you spend more time on OC interviews.

It's tough because Klein gives you the best chance to win since he's the OC. But also he's most likely to be mentally checked out because he's HC elsewhere.

Once again the reason we have looked bad the past 10 out of 12 quarters is that Reed's accuracy, which has been questionable all along, fell off dramatically. It doesn't necessarily show up in completion percentages because our receivers were able to make some good adjustments to catch a poorly thrown pass. Reed's passes were off target that caused the timing on the play to be thrown off. How many passes did we see over the past 3 P4 opponent games cause a receiver to adjust and only gain little or negative yardage? Not to mention the flat out over or under throws that they couldn't make the catch on.

Additionally, he was not seeing the other open routes that could have made some yardage on many of these plays. These are the problems we were dealing with this season at QB. We didn't have another QB that could step in so it was ride with Reed. It was always going to be we could only go as far as Reed could take us and we hit the wall. All in all it wasn't a terrible wall if you are rational, cool and collected when you evaluate the season.

Klein wasn't the issue. He maximized our offensive talent. It didn't require pinpoint accuracy. It did require a QB to be more accurate than Reed was at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see what the staff does going forward because either Reed needs to take the next step or we need a different QB if we want to go further.

This is it exactly. Klein created an offensive strategy that will win games in this era of CFB, complete with WRs running free due to misdirection and speed. Reed just couldn't hit them.

Heck, he couldn't hit those simple screen passes that I'm sure were run with the explicit purpose of getting Reed some quick and easy completions. In like 7 tries, how many of those throws were on target? 1 maybe?

Staff needs to honestly evaluate the Jimmies and Joes. Failure to do so will likely put us back at 8-4 or worse next season

He's definitely made a few WTF calls during the year, but the reason we lost - to Miami at least- is because our QB can't hit the broad side of a barn from 10 yards.

Literally, unfortunately.

You can't win championships at this level with a QB who can't throw.

As a coach I understand the whole drill Sergeant approach.

However, it's often difficult to always execute when showing the same attack over and over without any wrinkles/adjustments.

It started in Mizzou game the zone D / cover 2. Texas just implemented it for the entire game as did Miami. This exposed Reeds inaccuracy issues. His game plan should've had a run first plan with Reed it would've neutralized the DE's. That was bad on Kleins part the rpo would've destroyed them. Ohio Stsre will beat them by 20 or more they are not good.

Klein was a mediocre/ fair hire...I was truly hoping in 2025 offseason he would work with Marcel on mechanics and try to utilize Marcel as a dual threat QB while trying to develop a rushing attack. Alas, neither really came into fruition. Our last 3 games showed how much our offense needs help if trying to be serious CFP contenders...any decent defense showed our weaknesses. Good luck to Klein but hope he takes many of the offense staff with him. Marcel is still serviceable but needs a good QB coach and surrounding OLine, RBs going into 2026.

Kleiman officially announced his retirement on December 3rd and Klein was hired on December 5th. And that was after it was reported that his family and made the decision "several" days ago.

There is no coincidence we came out flat just two weeks before that against SC. Miami gave up almost 200 yards rushing against freaking Vtech just few weeks ago.

He needed to get more creative with playing like we saw when he was just coaching and scheming each week Mizzou game and before.

Maybe getting the ball to your 4.3 receiver Craver or your 4.4 Concepcion on the ground more would have been a good idea instead of running straight a great front 7. Then the middle opens back up.

He had no game to game scheming for the past 3-4 weeks, period.

Yea I agree. I remember listening to his press conference last week talking about plans for the Miami game and he sounded checked out / complacent about everything since he had his dream HC gig already lined up. I don't think he cared much about beating Miami.

FWIW - Ohio State's OC also is leaving and look what happened to them in the Big 10 championship. Their HC announced today he's taking over playcalling duties for the CFP as well, wonder if it's in response to seeing what happened to us on Saturday letting CK continue playcalling.

I agree strongly. Also like the response by Paul Pierce Ag. I like the offense. I think we would be undefeated SEC champs with Gunner Stockton at QB. We don't need Josh Allen. That being said, I really like Marcel and hope he leads us to the promised land.

Marcel's accuracy was especially bad Saturday because of the windy conditions. Unfortunately, the windy conditions shifted the advantage to Miami. Beck wasn't good either but their O Line proved slightly better in the running game. Yes Marcel pressed to get the ball down field because the strength of the offense has been the receivers. It is what is. With his running ability you don't need a 70% completion rate because he can break you down with his legs. If he improves his completion percentage and accuracy then Watch out because he'll be really hard to stop. Not sure what people expect given the conditions. They won 11 games and Marcel was a major reason why. Good season now go get ready for next year.

There have been problems that are clearly identified AFTER poor decisions to hire in the first place but any responses have either been slow or have waited until they sorted our their own departure

After year 1, Elko went and hired DC and OC replacements and removed Jay Bateman from Play calling duties. As I understand it we have let Bateman and Klien go to KState and we have promoted both C's from within.

I would call that planning. I didn't like Klien after game 3 last year. Maybe you let him go after year 1, but that's kind of tough.

But Elko is the best X's and O's coach since Sherrill.

If left alone he will win.

Agree with mediocre Klein

IF Reed remains here @ A&M, not sure how much better he will be as QB in the 3rd season. Probably better but the nature of his skill won't be dramatically different

Was Mond much better in his last year? Mond's best game was against LSU in the epic upset of LSU Heisman and Mond was in his 2nd yr at A&M?l

Any way, maybe less dull coaching staff can accentuate Reed skill set like running when Reed passing game is bad.

Klein did the same job this week that he's done his entire time here.

A&M Averaged over 30 points a game this season. Running into a good run defense and the QB throwing the ball into the dirt and to the other team brought that down.

How many times did we run the ball OUTSIDE the tackles?? very little unless it was a fly sweep.

Not really, Kelin appears on paper a good OC

In reality, look deeper, Kelin was mediocre at best as he was a beneficiary of ...

Elkos better Defense
Ekos new work ethic and culture
Better offensive player like Craver and Concepcion
favorable schedule
Luck

Klein ran out of luck... and he couldn't engineer a win out of current offensive players even if his life depended on it.I am sure Klein wanted CFP win but he was clueless.

This place has jumped the shark.

It's the defense's fault he ran a good offense.

Or he helped build a better culture as OC.

Or it's his fault he brought in better players.

It's his fault the schedule laid our nicely even though it was a top 20 hardest schedule.

You can be a better OC than many we've had before. But that has nothing to do with his idgaf attitude the past few weeks or even balancing the new gig responsibilities while still preparing and creating for new defensive challenges during a big season.

I think he does care for Marcel the way he says he does but if you really care about your players the way he says then you put everything into it for them until officially leaving.

Any real coach on any level would do that as I know and have worked with many like that.

Because many people are throwing a temper tantrum after a heartbreaking loss that brought BAS back 10x worse. You'd think we went 6-6 and were blown out based on the way people are reacting to a legit very good season. They are making up incredible tales of fiction to explain why we lost these last two games. An easy scapegoat is Klein even though by almost every metric he was very good for us at OC.

Yes there are things that need to be addressed. Yes this was a flawed team. However, it's not all doom and gloom. We are positioned well to compete at the highest levels. We just need to improve the team a bit more and we can truly compete for a national title. But we were 11-1. It's been since my freshman year that we had a record like that or better. That's a long long time. Since that time there are maybe 3 seasons that are better than this year. More likely only 1, 2012.
