What's the high level reason why this pisses off chelsea? Didn't they sell Lukaku to Everton?

It rubbed myself and Trevas wrong because we sold Lukaku to Everton and now our money is no good to buy him back for some reason.

@BooBoo, I'm not super high on him either, but I always liked mini Drog.

Everton can DIAF. Sold them Lukaku for a very fair price and now they try and return the favor by fleecing us two years straight. Nope.

Did Chelsea match the Man U offer?

Maybe but what does it matter? They clearly have a bad selling relationship with The Chelsea.

So you're mad that Chelsea may have been below Man U's offer and they didn't sell him back just because he was Chelseas player (that they didn't really have a use for)? That seems like you're stretching for a reason to be mad

If they had matched the offer (or been higher) then you'd probably have a point

From what I understand and have read, Chelsea and United both offered 75 and not his 100 release price.

Everton chose United over Chelsea.

The Lukaku deal looks worse than it is, but it looks BAD. If Morata can be had instead, oh well.

As for Costa, yes, IF he's motivated and IF he's in form, he's terrific. But that's the rub. He's motivated about 75% of the time and in form maybe half the time.

Besides, when Atletico get off their ban in January, Costa will buy one page ads in the papers saying he wants to leave. So you HAVE to find a replacement now. And if we are to challenge for the CL, you need 3 legitimate options at striker.

From what I understand, Chelsea would not match the agent fees to Mino Raiola. If you don't know who this guy is, he's bigtime like Bob Sugar in Jerry Maguire. Coincidently, he also represents Pogba, Zlatan, and Mkhitaryan.

Of course this could just be spin to protect Lukaku's public image.

In other news...we signed a really talented young German international today.

Do yourself a favor and don't believe all of the silly season nonsense in the press. Rudiger is a good signing and I'm sure we will make ink a few more solid players this window. Alex Sandro would be an awesome addition IF we can get him. We haven't had a player like Sandro since Ashley Cole. Bringing Christiansen back from loan really bolsters the squad as well. Hopefully we are finalizing contract extensions for Hazard and Courtois. We've also done a nice job finding loans for our more promising youngsters.

It's hard to lay blame on anyone at the club for the striker situation. Costa really undercut our leverage, and there's zero incentive for anyone to work with us quickly on a replacement. The longer this drags out, the stronger the seller's position will be. At this point, I'd like to see us pony up Belotti's buyout from Torino and go on our merry way.

Yes it's frustrating, but let's wait and see where things stand at the end of the window.

Bakayoko will be a nice upgrade over Matic. He and Kante should boss the midfield against most teams. Really hope we sell Matic to Juventus with Alex Sandro coming back the other way.

Still no clue what we're doing at striker.

Yes, what about striker?
What are we doing with the wings?

Alonso and Moses were good, but we basically have no replacement for either of they get hurt/suspended.

Bakayoko officially official. Great signing - going to love watching him next to Kante.

Now let's land a striker!

We could play 3-5-2. Cesc would be filthy in a free role with Kante and Bakayoko there to protect him.

Word now is Danilo has agreed to terms. I wonder if he or Dave now at least challenges for one of the wing positions.

Danilo would compete with Moses (and likely start over him) in the RWB role. Dave can play there in a jam, but I really think he's best at RCB.

I certainly wouldn't play Dave in the LWB spot. We really need to sign a backup for Alonso unless we are sold that Kenedy is up to the task. Mourinho did a lot of great things at Chelsea, but letting Felipe Luis go after one season wasn't one of them.

Honest question. I like Danilo but he's not starting at RM any time soon (mostly utilized as carvajal's backup with Lucas subbing in on the wing). He's a few seasons away from being there too IMO, struggled to transition forward and maintain possession, not as fluid attacking and vulnerable on defense . Is the quality so bad at Chelsea that he's seen as a viable starter? Or is this someone who projects as a solid starter in a year or two?

Did you see Danilo at Porto? Sometimes things don't work out at Real Madrid for very good players. I remember when Arjen Robben left Chelsea for Real Madrid and was ***** Then look what he's done since going to Bayern.

Robben was well liked by the fans at RM as I recall. I have nothing against Danilo and don't wish to see him leave but he's not getting first team football here, so I get it. I'm simply saying that I don't think he's as far along as our other subs and was curious about his starting quality.

Wow! Busy Monday.

Evidently, everybody's favorite malcontent, Costa, posed for photos in an Atletico Madrid shirt this weekend. Further driving the price down.

Bayern is out on Sanchez. But Arsenal would rather sell to ANYONE than Chelsea.

News broke a couple hrs ago that Chelsea have a serious interest in Aguero. This would be the best option for Chelsea in my opinion. City have issued the customary denial he's for sale. Aguero is with City in the US.

And the backup backup striker plan seems to be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Not a terrible option but my concern with him would be his physicality and lack of ability to hold the ball up.

I'm sure we do. I have a serious interest in Kate Beckinsale. Neither one is going to happen.

I still think we're looking at Aubameyang or Belotti. I don't think Morata leaves Madrid.

I don't think fans in Madrid **** on Robben. He had his moments for you guys. He's just an example of a very good player who got lost in a chest of shiny new toys when Kaka and Ronaldo came in. He was put into a great situation at Bayern and made the most of it. Still a big fan and I still bust out his old Chelsea jersey now and then. Same thing happens at Chelsea (e.g. Felipe Luis or Juan Cuadrado).

There's not a lot of great wing backs in football these days. Perhaps more will emerge if everyone copycats our 3 in the back. Victor Moses was very, very good for much of last season, but he looked tired come spring. Based on what I saw at Porto, Danilo could be a preferred starter at Chelsea and most teams in the EPL or Europe. I get why you don't rate him, but there is a reason you guys bought him from Porto.

Most Madridistas have a pretty fair opinion of Robben. Injuries were his true downfall at Madrid, they called him el hombre de cristal during his time there.

Looks like Chelsea have the Morata deal done, around 80 million which Madrid will be happy to invest in Mbappe now. Good player, just not going to be the guy to push out Benzema for Florentino or Zidane.

Just curious, and I'm not digging or trolling. What are y'all going to do with Costa? He's all but made himself worthless on the transfer market in terms of fair return and with his antics with the Atletico shirt I cannot imagine Conte will want him around the training grounds.
Kramer

My guess is we'll now take the $25 million for him because it's either that or get nothing. He'll walk on a free when his deal is up.
