The draw takes place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on Monday December 13. The ceremony begins at 12:00 CET, which is 5am Central.

When are the Round of 16 Matches?
The first legs are scheduled for February 15/16 and 22/23, with the second legs on March 8/9/ and 15/16.

What changes are there this season?
The so-called away goals rule has been removed, so ties level after 180 minutes will go to extra time irrespective of the number of goals each team has scored at home and away. If the teams still cannot be separated after the additional 30 minutes, the tie goes to a penalty shoot-out.

I wrestled with this one for a while but ultimately, I think I like it. It keeps the games more wide open in the second leg regardless of first leg outcome.

You're probably right.

But I can think of a few situations where teams might enjoy playing for a draw and going to overtime, but under the current rules they're behind on away goals so they have to keep pressing.

Overall I think I like the move but it is going to feel weird to not have to think about away goals anymore.

I am curious to see how games play out with this new rule. If the away teams just sit back and play for 0-0 draws then I will think we need to go back to away goals.

This is where I'm happy to see the no away goals rule kick in. Now that they're headed back to Munich, Bayern actually has to come out hunting instead of parking the bus and waiting to see if they can grab a counter attack goal (not that Bayern would likely do that, but the motivation to do that is gone).

At the Europa League level, Spartak Moscow won't be allowed to play their Round of 16 match at home. There is a growing push to kick them out although I'm quite sure the leaders of UEFA will perform some mental gymnastics to rationalize letting them play.

What is there to upset? Ramos is gone, Ronaldo is gone, bale is out of contract after this season as is Isco, hazard isn't even making it off the bench for us. He can step in in a big way without rocking the boat.
