Aaronson makes this assist look easy, but perfect weight on the ball.
That ball from the midfielder to him is what creates the opportunity, and is SO good.
That's something McKennie has actually done well, and is also a ball Gio would hit as well.

Would love for most, if not all, of our players to be in good form going into those last friendlies before the Cup
Give Poch all the choices to make to form the most cohesive team

Hopefully he gets first team minutes.



To be honest, he tried to do way too much in the u20 World Cup. Definitely moved in a different gear than most in that tournament though.

I'll hope for the best, but it seems like an odd move.

Hoffenheim are 5th in Bundesliga, so unless they really rate him highly I suspect he's gonna just be cheap, emergency depth for them. Also, they're not in the German cup or European competitions, so they won't need to rotate the squad nearly as much.

But hopefully he impresses and earns minutes despite that.

Well any minutes are better than what he's getting now. There were some weird things with him at Dortmund.

one of the whole points of these loan deals, besides making more $$ for the lessor because the lessee needs a player asap, is because both clubs benefit. one club benefits by sending a developmental player somewhere they can get more minutes and hopefully develop faster and the other club benefits by receiving a player on the pitch presumably because they need one. i would expect this deal got done because the player is going to play.

Exhibit A being Gio to Nottingham Forest, which was also a loan from Dortmund… which makes me jump to conclusions and wonder if maybe Dortmund is quick to just write guys off, send them anywhere on loan to get $$ with zero expectation of playing time… and then turn around and make the deal sound good to the player so he agrees to it.

That's actually not true… he played more for Dortmund that season prior to loan.

Now, whether he would've gotten any at Dortmund that spring is debatable for sure. I can't remember who they brought in, but IIRC they snagged a couple new guys who played similar roles to him so he was gonna fall further down the pecking order.

I like the way the stripes are shaded compared to say the 1994s or I think Atletico Madrid also wore similar wavy stripes in pure red. The shading in the red color produces the desired flag effect better if you're gonna put the wave in there.
