Well I think this past weekend will add some juice to Dortmund's season now. Not sure I would have guessed that in mid-March Dortmund would be at the top of the table. Der Klassiker is going to be off the charts in drama.

Bayern has been nearly unstoppable in the Champions League (actually not nearly at all, seeing as we haven't lost/drew a match yet and faced the likes of Inter, Barca, & PSG. But damn, we have looked terrible at times in league play. 15 wins and 10 non-wins. That's very un-Bayern like.

If you want to have a good time you non-Dortmund fans, FCBTX (the official Bayern Munich fan club of Texas) is having a big time watch party in Austin for Der Klassiker. FCB higher-ups and video crews will be there as they are producing a TV show that highlights the top FCB fan clubs in the country/world and picked FCBTX to be the focus of episode two in the docuseries.

There will be tons of giveaways and memorabilia to be had. Every chapter is invited for this one big watch party. There are chapters in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and I believe San Antonio but I could be wrong on that.

It will be a raucous party for sure.

I agree with that sentiment. My change came from me getting into F1 and realizing that not every constructor or driver has a true chance to win. Most of the time you can tell by the 2nd or 3rd race that there will probably be only 2-3 drivers that stand a chance to win the whole thing. This year there's not even a competition as Red Bull is so far out ahead of the competition you might as well give them the trophy now.

And even between Verstappen and Checo (RB drivers) it's not really a competition as Verstappen is consistently outpacing Checo by a good margin.

It has made me appreciate the battles for 3-5, 6 and 7, and even last place.

WTF, in the middle of a Champions League season where we are dominating? But if Fabrizio is reporting it it must be nearly a done deal.

There's gotta be friction between him and Der Titan. Kahn looks pissed everytime they show him in the stands.

It's done. Tuchel is in.

Done deal. I get that Bayern probably expects to be 10+ points clear at the top of the Bundesliga but the timing of this still strikes me as absurd.

The man had a +45 GD and got fired. That has to be a record or something.

I know the nickname we have is FC Hollywood because of all the media attention and drama that we attract to ourselves, but this is one of the most shocking sackings I can ever remember. And I'm not even the biggest fan of Nagelsmann.

All he's done since he got the job is:
  • Win the title in the only year he fully coached.
  • In the quarters of the Pokal
  • Have no losses or draws this year in the UCL with the no question toughest draws
  • Have a +45 goal differential and sit in 2nd place with perhaps one of the easiest schedules the rest of the way in the Bundesliga. Outside of Dortmund and Leipzig, the other 8 games left are against bottom half of the table teams

I just don't get it. He had to have done something and it culminated this week. With the way European media is, I'm sure the story will come out soon if that is the case.

Wow. Yeah this timing is absolutely bonkers given the CL situation.

If Rose can't get Leipzig back on track, I hope we try to get him back in the offseason.

Feel like this sums it up quite nicely.

It makes absolutely no sense. It has to be either a scandal or him and upper management got into it bad after the loss this past Sunday.

This alone might cost them not only the Champions League, but also the league title. I might have been 95% sure we were going to get the league title this year. Not I see it as 50/50 or at the best 66/34. Just don't know what happened that couldn't wait another 2-3 months.

Or there was a mutiny I guess that went to upper management.

And/or maybe Tuchel's been working behind the scenes to push him out. Dude has certainly been quiet as a church mouse since Chelsea canned him.

So apparently about a week ago Bayern's tactical playbook (if you will) was leaked to the German media. Nagelsmann went off in a press conference saying there was a mole in the locker room that was leaking their game plan to the media to undermine him and the team. That the only reason to do this was to help the opposing teams and he really wants to know who this mole is.

He apparently also said that it's going to be really hard to find who this mole is as "moles are a protected breed". But that he hopes whoever the mole is can't even look at himself in the mirror because he broke every football code there is doing this.

Wynalda was talking about him the other day on Counter Attack. Said Munich's top brass did not like his attitude change over the last year, and they would fire him but not before they had the next guy lined up.

Pretty sure the way Bayern went about it and with the speed surprised even him.

If I recall, Bayern is like the USSF. A bunch of the old guys who played there for the most part run the whole thing.

Nagelsmann can come manage the USMNT. He's used to the environment already

Good point, although it's worth noting that 75% of the club is owned by the members, so their nepotism is theoretically the will of the fanbase. If they got upset about decisions like this, they could theoretically vote for a neutral, professional CEO.

In contrast, USSF leadership is there by will of the member associations (ultimately, the clubs in the regional associations). So it's an organization with layers of self-protective nepotism.

And while that's a structure that is mirrored around the world, what is uniquely a US problem is the MLS single-entity model, which I assume gives them the ability to wield disproportionate influence. In other National FAs around the world, you have large clubs with competing interests voting against each other. In the US, MLS clubs don't necessarily care about their own bottom line, but they intensely care about bolstering the entire MLS entity.

I'm pissed that I'm gonna miss FCB-BVB tomorrow. I'll be in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma at a in-law family gathering. No WiFi and spotty cell.

This might be the biggest matchup ever between these two considering the table and the TT drama.

My head says I should root for an ugly draw where both teams end up having multiple suspensions (or injuries, but I don't like rooting for injuries). But my heart is hoping for Dortmund to run rampant - sorry LC. It's not likely, but that's the story I want. Make those turds feel some pain for this abrupt coaching change.

It's gonna be a wild matchup for sure. I have no idea what to expect. Either way Tuchel is protected. Come out and win? Wow what a great start!

Come out and look flat/draw/lose? Oh well what to do you expect to happen with only a week under a new coach.

I hated that firing and how it went down. And I absolutely hate Tuchel.

Season isn't over yet. It was such a weird game but that loss was way more on Dortmund than Bayern fixing stuff.

What a howler of a goal by Kobel that set the tone early. And Dortmund did what they always do and wilt under the pressure. By the time they recovered it was the 3-0 in the 22' and pretty much over.

Leipzig's league form has been crap recently. Hope this result rights the ship. It was legit dominance yesterday, especially in the first half. Kobel atoned for his sins with some fantastic saves that kept this from getting out of hand early.

I wasn't able to post yesterday cause of work. But I ****ing hate Tuchel. This season is now (barring a stunning comeback) a joke.

And now you got your star transfer punching out Sane? To be fair, there has been multiple times I've wanted to punch Sane too but come on. What a terrible signing Mane is turning out to be. Injured and by all accounts has not been good in the locker room.

I get it, Oliver Kahn is a Titan at the club. But he needs to step aside and let someone who knows what they're doing run this club. He is making decisions based purely on his emotion and how the game was played in the 90s. There was no reason to fire Nagelsmann this far into the season when you were undefeated in Champions League and 1 point out of first place in the league with the biggest match of the year coming up.

And then your replacement is someone who plays a completely different style and was just coaching against your next UCL opponent who has scouted him for the past 2 years. And they should know better as Tuchel rode the coattails of Klinsmann, Klopp, and Flick to get where he is today. Those three were the main coaches who transformed German National football back in the mid-late 2000's and their success is how he got the Mainz job just due to association. Followed up Klopp at Dortmund and had the backing of Qatar at PSG. Had an amazing run on Chelsea for 4 months but flamed out quickly there too. He's rubbed every club higher up the wrong way at every job he's had.

I disagreed with getting rid of Nagelsmann
I disagreed strongly with bringing in Tuchel
I disagreed with not overhauling the forward position group. We should have sold at least two of Coman, Gnabry, and Sane.
I disagreed with giving the starting 9 role to Choupo

Mane has turned into a disaster but I at least don't blame them for making that move, and I like the move for Tel. But other than that they brought in depth midfielders that don't see the field for us. Davies has regressed tremendously. We'll be lucky to win the league this year.

I'm hoping Germany does terrible in Euro2024 where Flick is sacked and we can hire him back.
