It's going to be an interesting process and one I'm sure I'll have even more complaints about than I already do

At first I was kinda pissed that FIFA is going cheap on staffing here, but after thinking about it, I have no doubt that soccer-loving volunteers probably provide better service than a team of event staff carnies. Especially in the US where most people's soccer knowledge floats really close to zero.
Hope you at least get some cool swag from it.

I have 2 tickets to the opening US Men's game in LA I am trying to sell. These were part of a "Follow-my-team" package that includes access 3 hours before game and after to the FIFA pavilion. I am looking for $3,358 per ticket ($6,716 total), which is what I paid based on the invoice excerpt below. I also posted in the Ticket Exchange forum, but posting here too. Send me a PM if interested, would like to sell to an Aggie.

Could be. But they also might not have updated yet after seats got assigned last week… so it's their old "buy me out" price for a generic Cat 2 ticket.
And yeah, their site was perfectly fine for the old category system but it's atrocious now.
For a ton of reasons, I'm glad I sold mine when I did.

Its probably some combination of both. I definitely think FIFA has been messing around with releasing all the tickets trying to create a false sense of scarcity. The US stadiums nearly seat double of what any other World Cup country could, but we are also a country that doesn't value the game as highly as every where else. I've been saying that for a long time. We can't even fill AT&T for USA v Mexico games in the Gold Cup. There are a few other people at my work who are wanting to go, but are balking at the price. Although one of the docs I work with has tickets to 5 different games so far, but he also makes crazy money.
Then you add in the insane price increase from any other world cup and compare it to what the rest of the world typically pays for their soccer matches and its a bad combination. Paying $300+/seat can get you suite tickets for EPL matches and usually best seat in the house in most stadiums. Yet thats what it cost to sit in the nosebleeds for 2026 World Cup group stage matches and it only goes up from their.
Most of the rest of the world doesn't have the expendable cash that many Americans are fortunate to have. Trying to bring a family of 3 is probably gonna cost minimum of $1K per match fans go to + international flights + outrageous hotel costs. So even for 1 game, a small family is looking at having to spend nearly $5k just for a short stay for 1 match. Its just not feasible for many in the rest of the world.
Also add in that the United States has absolutely tanked its international reputation in the last few years and people (both domestic and abroad) are probably excited to see this thing fail epically. I do still lean towards there being quite a few empty seats at stadiums.

Sticking to my walk up and buy 5 minutes after kickoff strategy for this summer. Every news release has me feeling better about it.
