I figured we needed a main thread. I think we are all still basking in our championship glory. That was a pretty sick alley-oop from odom to mahinmi. They seem to have some chemistry together, as do terry and mahinmi. I would love it if odom and terry could figure each other out.

Finally! Glad someone started this. I guess I just figured the entire forum was our thread lol.

46-17. I think those claiming we wouldn't even make the playoffs earlier this year were Spurs and Thunder fans doing wishful thinking.

i never said they wouldn't make the playoffs, but you're playing the kings, bra. let's not crown them champs again just yet.

You might not have said it, but there was a whole thread dedicated to the fact they might not even get in. Yes the Kings su-u-u-ck. But this is a team that has started to gel, with its many new pieces starting to play very well. Even Odom has been a big contributor tonight. I'm satisfied they'll get in the tournament, and from there, well, you never know.

Sure it was a concern, but I like where things are headed. And saying they wouldn't make the playoffs was a knee-jerk especially 4 games into the season or whatever it was.

Vinsanity looks like he still has a little something huh? I really like the idea of having a slasher/dunker come playoff time. Well help compensate for the losses of Tyson and Barea.

Obi Wan, I was pretty damn nervous. Any time the Nuggets beat you by 30 on your homecourt there is cause for concern... half their team plays in China.

I think the only thing most rational fans were concerned with, was that in the time it takes this team to gel, we might dig to big a hole to climb out of. That appears to no longer be a concern.

I assume you think I'm an "irrational" fan Pat? LOL. Fair enough. But the Nuggets did beat the Heat last night, so half the team in China or not, they are a better team this year than last. I just a) believe in Coach Carlisle and b) think the longer these pieces get to play together the better they will gel and create similar chemistry to last year.

No, I meant the people saying we wouldn't make the playoffs were irrational.

I know that as crazy as Delonte West might be, adding him has been huge already. Mahimi has been ballin' too. I like seeing some production out of some of those younger guys. Makes me hopeful for the future. I don't think the Mavs make much noise in the playoffs unless the Magic fall off and they manage to trade for Howard.

Am I the only one who would like to see Mahinmi out there in crunch time as opposed to Haywood??? Haywood prolly is the better defender but when he looks for his own shot he kills the Mavs. Mahinmi has a nice mid-range touch, has better hands/finishes better around the basket, and he is competent at the free throw line.

I gotcha PatAg! I see what you were saying now.

Yeh I love what Mahinmi's done so far. I also think Roddy is showing flashes of maturity. He still makes one or two bone headed moves a game, which is fewer than before at least, but his good moments are getting more and more frequent.

Ya, Haywood doesn't give you much offensively in crunch time. I wouldn't mind seeing some more of Brandon Wright either. He's really a forward, but he handles the ball really well for a big man and plays with a lot of energy. But Haywood has the frame to bang with some of the bigger teams, the other two guys really don't, and Mahimi gets himself into foul trouble.

Plus we also have Yi, who did pretty well in garbage minutes the other night. We are actually really deep at center suddenly. Maybe not overall as good as we were when we had Tyson, but we have twice as many bodies to throw out there as last year.

Roddy stepping up would be really big this year, we've been waiting and I don't know how high his potential really is, but he is actually looking like a contributor now, and we could certainly use his speed and athleticism. I've been a big fan of Ian for a while, I've just felt like he needed minutes. He looked good in his limited playing time in the finals, but he has a nice stroke. The defensive and rebounding parts of his game are pretty raw, but there is a lot of potential.

This team is finally coming together, and I love the fact that we can play everyone 30 minutes or less a night and still be in the game, but this week should be a nice measuring stick. Neither the Lakers nor Clippers have played to their potential yet this year, and the Jazz look pretty good, especially considering how bad they looked in their first game, so I'm looking forward to see how we do this week.

The Mavs do have more game ready bigs this year, but all that means is more fouls (which is a genuine help). Those "bigs", particularly Yi and Wright, play negative defense.

I wouldn't say that about Wright necessarily, his length has been bothering a lot of shots. Against a giant big man like Bynum or Marc Gasol, sure he's not gonna do well, but not many of those around.

We are forcing 3's so far through the first quarter.

Much better in Q2 though. Good thing LA looks just as lost offensively. I think Lamar finally has come to play.

You guys are really that bummed about that game? The Mavs knock down any of their open shots and it is a blowout.
R0GUE

I think that's the exact reason we are bummed lol.

If the Aggie football team had just one more touchdown in all their games, they may have been in a BCS game.
Moral victory's are for losers.

I'm just chalking this one up like the OKC game. Mavs played well enough to win, took a great play to beat them.

Playing defense like that will work out in the long run.

And will someone tell Odom he has to play this season?
PatAg

The thing is, last year we didn't just rely on knocking down open shots. If they werent falling, we'd go to the hoop.

Lol did you hear Hubie just try to pronounce Beaubois? He called him "BOO-ba." Can someone please put Hubie in a retirement home already?

Coaching Odom has to be super frustrating right now. He would have fit in perfectly with 2002-2009 Mavs. Pulls up from 17 feet constantly and can't hit anything in crunch time.
