It's going to be funny when the Knicks can't afford to keep him after this season.

The most annoying thing in the world is listening to Mike & Mike talk about basketball.

Through 3 quarters, Lin has more assists (13) than the entire Kings roster (11).

Stern was asked if Lin would be allowed to participate in the Rising Stars game for first- and second-year players at All-Star Weekend. Stern said no, but Lin could appear in a skills competition.

People talking about an All-Star appearance need to pump the brakes, but he should definitely without question be playing in the Rising Stars game. How could he not, especially since the line-ups aren't set?

Maybe they'll resurrect H-O-R-S-E.

People might actually watch the Rising Stars game if Lin were in it.

It actually sounds interesting:

quote:
TNT Analysts Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal will serve as the general managers of two opposing teams, each with nine man rosters, consisting of NBA rookies and sophomores drafted from a pool that was previously selected by the NBA's assistant coaches. Also, TNT's Kenny Smith will serve as the honorary Commissioner and Ernie Johnson will host the live BBVA Rising Stars Challenge Draft on Thursday, Feb. 16, on NBA TV at 7 p.m. ET.

The pool of players is already set though so I don't think Lin can get in unless they make an exception.

I'm just happy that this didn't all happen about a month ago, or the internet vote would have put him as a starter for the Eastern Conference.

The funny thing is, he's just as deserving as Melo, if not moreso.

JR Smith his heading to the Knicks. I wonder if Lin's play had a big part to do with it.

My question is did Lin just fall into a good situation in NY and A.Law didn't??

With regard to athletic ability, Acie isn't in the same time zone.

I have not watch Law in a couple of years, but I disagree.. Lin is not that athletic. That dunk was perfect set up for a dunk.... if you can't dunk it there, you can't dunk.

You don't have to jump out of the ceiling to be considered athletic.

One of the main reasons he has been hoping around is because his "lack" of athleticism.... his fundamentals or scoring weren't the problem.

You're wrong. You don't keep burning NBA players the way he has been the past week or two if you're not athletic. He's got good hops and a first step that other players are struggling to keep up with

he sure finishes at the rim a lot in traffic for someone who isn't athletic.

Don't misunderstand. he is athletic... but not compared to the guys he is taking to the hole. I have not looked it up, but I am pretty sure Wall tested better than him on everything at the combine. Kobe (even at his age) is more explosive than lin and lin made him look foolish a time or two.

He is very deceptive.

I have only seen one dunk of his and several that he tried to dunk but dropped in. Count me unimpressed with that... I am impressed with his first step.

No, not really. If you think he has "good hops" you need to get out more.

Found another dunk of his.

Jeremy Lin has been added to the BBVA rising stars rookie-soph game. Miami Heat guard Norris Cole made it in as well.

Everbody's seen it a bunch, but that's a solid dunk for a 6'3 guy. Not insane, but enough to say he's got "good hops" (which isn't that strong a superlative to begin with)

It is all relative. He plays in the NBA.... that is not hops.

You need to play ball with some of us older guys. I am 6'3", 34, white and play in a church league...and I can do that (or at least I could last year).

Yes, I'm sure you could juke John Wall, explode past him toward the lane, leap from the left edge of the paint (about 55-60% of the way to the freethrow line from the basket), twist in midair, and throw down a dunk into the right side of the basket before any of the other NBA players on the court could move to contest the shot.

Unless you have a truly putrid shot, if you have enough athleticism to do that, you can get in the D-league at minimum and don't have to be playing pickup ball in a church league. So you had 1) a putrid shot, 2) a terrible agent, 3) different career ambitions, or 4) are exaggerating your ass off.

My money is on 4.

Look, I loved Acie in college. He played hard and smart, and was clutch in tight situations. But he's nowhere near as explosive or athletic as Lin is. He can't take anybody 1 on 1. Lin? Despite running the show (mostly) without his 2 best offensive players, which means that the other team knows that he's NY's #1 offensive weapon and will be taking a ton of shots, he's still consistently beating NBA players with NBA athleticism.

Being able to dunk when you are all alone on the floor, is completely different then dunking after you have made a move to beat a player and finishing in traffic

This.

Brian Scalabrine could hobble on an empty court with two broken legs and still dunk.

Lin is above average for an NBA player when it comes to athleticism. You don't blow past defenders like he does without being athletically gifted.
