What he doesn't seem to get is that his "injury" never goes away, so it will be a constant nuisance. Even if it was real (which I don't think it is), the club that drafts him doesn't have an obligation to make accomadations for him or treat him special if he is unable to perform his job.

An employer cannot fire someone for a disability, etc (discrimination) if they are still able to perform the job. But if his problem prevents him from performing his job (for example, he is saying he won't be able to play alot of nights), then they can suspend/cut/fire him. At least that's what I think.

All that being said, I don't see his motive in all of this. What is he gaining from this. I am beginning to believe he is just a huge headcase. He is losing millions by acting like this, not the other way around. I really don't get it.

apparently having a "neutral" doctor with authority to give yes/no decisions on whether he could play specific games would violate NBA players' union contracts. Rockets couldn't do it even if they wanted to (I think I read that somewhere in the past, no link)

Here's what got me fired up while watching last night's segment...

His main point was essentially he wants to be treated the same as a player with a physical ailment. He made multiple comparisons throughout the segment. If this is the case then why visit a different doctor? Players with physical injuries don't request a neutral doctor.

You can't ask to be treated as an equal and then turn around and ask for special treatment. I'm not saying he doesn't have a mental condition but he comes off as if he's using that to get leverage and benefits he isn't entitled to.

Also, not once did it mention he is currently seeking treatment and seeing a therapist.

good point on the comparison to physical ailments. Supposedly he won't go to doctors recommended by the Rockets for treatment, as he doesn't trust them. But both White & Rockets should have the same goal, to get him well-enough to play.
Interesting that he was able to fly while playing for Iowa St (he trusted the coaches) but can't fly for Rockets (he doesn't trust the coaches).

It was so wrong of him to have entered the draft with that much mental baggage.

The Rockets should have tested his mental stability before drafting him.

I just don't like the way he's going about it. He does seem smug and he should be doing everything he can to get on the court. The Rockets is a good organization and I'm sure they've done all they can to help him.
