Joseph has turned into one of our best defenders honestly. And he's really gaining confidence on offense. Great timing.

McGrady made some really nice passes out there. I think he could contribute if we really needed him.

I love it when The Onion writes stories on Duncan. Yea it's a little late, but whatever.

Citing Battle Of Agincourt, Tim Duncan Urges Lakers Not To Get Too Discouraged By Game 1 Loss

quote:
Following the Lakers’ 91-79 loss in Game 1 of their playoff series, Spurs power forward Tim Duncan reportedly urged his opponents Tuesday not to be discouraged, reminding them of England’s underdog victory against the French during the Battle of Agincourt in 1415.

At the beginning of the playoffs, I'm sure most Spurs fans would have preferred not to play Denver, but after watching Denver v. GSW, do Spurs fans have a preference in that series (GSW lead 3-1)?

I'm kind of on the fence now after last night's game. GS just seems to really be clicking now, opposed to Denver. And Duncan historically has trouble with Bogut. I think I'd still want to play GS though. I think Green can keep curry at bay (no pun intended)and Parker should have no problem getting into the paint.

I think we match up well with Denver. Lawson will get his, but otherwise the Spurs will throttle them.

I don't want to play GS. Curry is approximately unstoppable when he's on. Jarrett Jack and Carl Landry are very capable scorers, and both play well against the Spurs. Bogut is one of the top centers in the league when healthy, and he appears to be healthy and improving every game. You can't leave Klay Thompson or Harrison Barnes alone, and Green is an interesting wild card scorer. I think the Spurs can score on them, but that is a very good roster.

I'd rather see Golden State. Bogut is their only serviceable big man with Lee out, and he's not going to be real effective offensively. Their guards, particularly Curry, are great shooters, but as a team they're too reliant on jumpers. Thompson is streaky and Jarrett Jack won't continue to shoot as well as he has. The warriors are a young team with very little playoff experience and they haven't won a game in San Antonio in like ten years or something.

They look good against Denver because the only thing that Denver does well offensively is get out and run, which is the warriors strength as well. George Karl keeps playing right into GS small lineups instead of trying to pound it inside and he doesn't have the same shooters as GS.

I would prefer GS as well. Pop will outcoach either Mark Jackson or George Karl with ease though so it doesn't really matter.

Always have the player whose playing best on the court at that time.

Therefore the Spurs should want Denver. Curry had the warriors rolling.

Curry is good, but I think Denver has more talent top to bottom. Despite the possibility of getting to see JaVale in crunch time, I would rather play GSW, who has less talent. Spurs do pretty good against teams with one superstar with no help (Swept Bron in 07)

Golden State is shooting the ball extremely well but Denver is making them look better then they are.

There are pros and cons to both teams. If the Spurs are healthy I think the Spurs can handle both teams.

Hopefully Denver can win game 5 at home though to give us some extra rest.

Worth mentioning for Golden State fans contemplating a matchup with the Spurs: Warriors haven't won in San Antonio during the Tim Duncan Era

I'll take the warriors after (hopefully) a 7 game series.

I'd rather get Denver. The way GSW stretch the floor with their shooters worries me. That'll wear the Spurs out more than anything.

Plus that GSW crowd is crazy.

Would rather the Spurs big men have to play Bogut than Denver's athletic bigs. Curry will score, but the Spurs should be able to handle it.

I prefer Denver mainly because they can't really shoot the ball. If you limit your turnovers and not let them run then they struggle big time.

GS on the other hand can get hot and run you outta the gym. It will be interesting to see how long they can keep that going.

Denver was overrated before they lost Gallinari. Now you just jam the lane and they are done.
