I firmly believe that Duncan could win 5 more titles and win the regular season and Finals MVP in each season and Rocket fans would still say Hakeem was better because the Rockets beat the Spurs 4-2 in one playoff series.
It just boggles me how anyone truly thinks small differences in career REGULAR SEASON stats are more important than Titles, MVP's, AS Appearances, All NBA, or All Defensive Team. There have always been lots of guys that could put up stats in the NBA. That's about the design of the scheme the team runs as much as anything. If you have one guy as your primary shooter, they will score a lot. If you have one guy that is your primary rebounder, they will rebound a lot. If you have a career where you play on teams that are always struggling to make the playoffs, you will get a lot of minutes and thus have better stats.
That is why they have the awards. The players and coaches know who the best players are and they vote for them as do the sportswriters. Stats can't always measure the impact of a player.
