He is in incredible shape. He played 50 of the 53 minutes last night. He plays a crazy high number of minutes.

Not to mention those high minutes last night were intense. I can't imagine chasing Parker around on defense and then having to put that much effort on the offensive end.

It's just other-wordly what Lebron can do. Nobody else who has ever played the game could guard a guy like Parker and yet play with the size and strength Lebron plays with, and the number of minutes he can play. It's like he's a bionic man.

Bron was 2-7 with 5 points and 3 turnovers [including a charge] in the last 9 minutes of play. Coincidently, that happened to be the part that Dwyane Wade played after being benched the first 8 minutes of the 4th.

That said, he is the most incredible basketball talent. Maybe ever. And he works hard and keeps improving his game (like has has with his range this year.) He was playing great D on Parker down the stretch. LeBron is other worldly talented.

I really think one of those TOs was a beautiful lob to Bosh that Bosh just didn't go get. But no matter. Lebron was definitely gassed in the last few minutes. I'm hoping he feels it in game 7.

5 points in 9 minutes equates to ~27 points per game. Pretty good if your bad stretch in a game equates to 27ppg

My exact sentiments about Lebron in one sentence. He looks uncomfortable taking jump shots and he doesn't really have any go to one on one moves. He consistently settles for mid range jumpshots and doesn't have a killer instinct that you would expect from a player of his caliber.

He's a really really good player, great athlete, potential HOF, but I wouldn't put in the same breath as Duncan, Parker, Kobe, Jordan, Magic.

He is cursed with being the "best player in the NBA" and being compared to great players of other eras.

And I'm just not sure he can hold that "greatest player" legacy for too much longer.

Uncomfortable with his jump shot?

Lebron is amazing but Magic was better. Dude played all 5 positions in the 1980 Finals when Kareem was injured and won the game. He was a 6'9 Point Guard that had a ridiculous handle, could make any shot, and was a physical force.

This is just one short highlight video:

It equates to 26.67 points per 48 minutes, which he doesn't play. It equates to 21.06 points per 37.9 minutes, which is what he played this season. On .286 shooting and 12.63 turnovers per game per 37.9 minutes.

2-7 shooting with 3 turnovers. Per 48 you are using would be at 26.67 points and 16 turnovers.

Which version of those players are you comparing him to? This is what makes these statements idiotic.

Lebron has more titles than Jordan did at this point in his career. If he wins Thursday he will still have more, or he will be tied.

LeBron is still building his legacy, to compare him to players that have almost completed their careers is moronic. No one knows what will happen in the future.

Jordan had three titles in his first ten years. LeBron has one. In two of those 10 years, Jordan played less than 20 games. Jordan had 7 straight scoring titles, three steals titles and three MVPs (and probably should have had more MVPs - lost it with 33-6-7-2.8 and lost to Barkley. In 90 lost to Magic with a 34-7-6-2.8 line to Magic's 22-12-6 line. In 89, Jordan didn't get it with a 33-8-8-2.9 line.)

Be fair. MJ played three season at UNC.

I'm rooting for the Spurs, and I'm not saying Lebron will eclipse MJ (that's unlikely), but it is possible. If Miami wins Thursday, they will go down as one of the top 10 teams in NBA history. If Lebron then adds 2 or 3 more titles, he will be in MJ's rarefied air. Hopefully, the Spurs pull that out from under him.

So give Jordan another title for the 82 Final Four?

Nothing kept LeBron out of the NCAA.

Jordan won his first in his 7th season. Bron won his first in his 9th season.

He can't score from mid-range like Jordan, and he can't handle like Magic. Lebron is not the second coming of either. He's the first coming of Lebron James.

You forgot Robert Horry, Derek Fischer, Jim Pollard, Dennis Rodman, Ron Harper, Steve Kerr, and other that have more rings...since that obviously makes them better than Lebron.

quote:
Perception. He should tone down the antics towards the refs. It appears to be a bit excessive

Yeah, because he's the only player to complain to the refs...it's comical seeing people invent reason to bag on Lebron...He scores 50 points, well he didn't pass the ball, he has a triple double, well he didn't score enough, he shoots jump shots, well he's scared to go to the basket, he goes to the basket, well he complained to much about fouls...he saves a dog, well he must hats cats...

quote:
Do you deny that he turned the ball over twice under the hoop in consecutive possessions in under a minute to close out the fourth, not to mention bricking the jumper that Bosh collected and fed to Allen for the season saving 3?

Do you deny the big 3 point shot he hit? or the triple double he had in an elimination game? Or the fact he's 2.5 apg away from averaging a triple double in the finals? Or does that not fit your "Lebron Sucks" arguement?

He's a really really good player, great athlete, potential HOF, but I wouldn't put in the same breath as Duncan, Parker, Kobe, Jordan, Magic.

I don't see many other players complaining to the refs and not getting back on defense, leading to easy baskets on the other end.

I think that is a very legitimate reason to bag on LeBron. Do other players ***** to refs? Absolutely. But there were a couple times last night that LeBron just sat on the floor and *****ed while the Spurs pushed it up the court for an easy bucket 5 v 4.

Yea I don't mind LeBron complaining to the refs when he has a legit reason, but you gotta get back on D and wait until stoppage time of some sort to make your case. Wade was doing the same thing. Both teams were complaining about the refs and to the refs last night. I didn't see any spurs players not getting back on D though, that's a quick way to get on pops bench

So he averaging a triple double in the series and the best you can come up with is "he had 2 or maybe 3 possessions complaining to the refs"...Your both reaching, but to each their own I guess...

I don't think it's reaching to expect a player to get back on D instead of staying on the other end and complaining about a call. You give the Spurs a 5 on 4 opportunity and they will usually capitalize on it.

Not taking anything away from Lebron. He got a triple double and beasted in the 4th quarter, but I would say the same thing about any player not getting back on D.

Like you said though, a concept not recognized by many on TexAgs is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion
