Little known fact is that Kevin Garnett and Dirk Nowitski actually went head to head in a playoff series at one point in their career and Dirk destroyed Kevin Garnett.

In the 2002 playoffs Dallas was the 4 seed and Minnesota was the 5 seed.

Kevin Garnett was in his 7th season in the league and Dirk was only in his 4th.

Dallas would sweep the T-Wolves.

KG had a great series averaging 24 points and 18 rebounds.

He was joined by future NBA Finals MVP Chauncey Billups who averaged 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

NBA All Star Wally Scerbiack chips in 20 ppg, 7 rebounds and 2 assist.

Despite the strong series from Kevin Garnett, Chauncey Billups, and Wally Scerbiack the T-Wovles are destroyed by the Mavs.

Dirk owns everyone in the series by averaging 33 points and 16 rebounds on 52% shooting.

Here is a video of the Final game of that series. In this game Dirk goes for 39 points and 17 rebounds.

The 39 points is more points then Kevin Garnett will ever score in a playoff game.

So, KG and Dirk play against each other in ONE playoff series and your point is what exactly?

^A lot of valid points, but bringing up players like Terrell Brandon, Chauncey Billups, Marbury? All of those players were better either before or after they left Minnesota. Billups was a bust until he found the right situation and coaching in Detroit. Brandon was already over the hill. Marbury wasn't nearly the psycho he turned out to be yet, and he still managed to implode the team after two years.

The reality is that Garnett is in between what people say he is. He didn't win enough, but he definitely didn't have the support people like Kellso thinks he did.

Garnett in his time in Minnesota averaged 22ppg, 13 rpg (3 off rpg), 5 apg, 2 bpg, and 1 steal in the playoffs. All above his career averages.

Paul Pierce carried the offensive load in their Finals win, but you have to be in complete denial to think Garnett wasn't the centerpiece of that team's change/chemistry/defense/mentality/etc. that season.

and yet all of these horrible, horrible, horrible players had great playoff series for Minnesota.

Its an interesting commentary that all of these players were much better when they were not playing with Kevin Garnett.

Everyone says Garnett had no help......but he wasn't even the leading playoff scorer in 1997, 1998 or 2000.

Maybe if he had scored more points......his teams would have had a better chance of winning.

But Screw that....whats that called? ....personal responsibility.

Its much easier to blame the Minnesota playoff woes on all those horrible teammates.

Maybe.....maybe not. Kevin Garnett was actually the 3rd leading scorer for the Celtics in the 2008 Finals.

Its why he has never won an NBA Finals MVP.

Ridiculous. He was a second-year player in 1997 and ran into a Rockets team that probably could have beaten the Bulls the way their rosters matched up if it hadn't been for Stockton.

In 2000, he averaged 18, 10 and 9 in losing to probably the most talented team in the NBA that year. Their third best player was Malik Sealy for crying out loud.

Either way, Kellso. Where would you rank him on your top 5 list? You don't honestly think he isn't one of the 5 best PF's of all-time, do you?

I don't know my man......in 12 years in Minnesota Kevin Garnett won a whopping total of 2 playoff series.

I have a hard time saying a player with that weak a record in the post season is the 2nd best Power Forward of all time.

KG was great at putting up great stats....but as far as being a team you could build a franchise around.....there are much better Power Forwards out there.

KG was a really good power forward with the misfortune to be playing on a decent team during the Spurs/Lakers dynasties. I want to say his playoff averages while he was on the Timberwolves were around 20 and 12, and he played solid defense. People went overboard when they called him better than Duncan 2 years ago, but he was still a very good player.

Duncan stopped being the spurs PF the day david robinson retired. Been playing the C position whilst demanding everyone call him a PF ever since. Complete and total fraud.

It's time for another round of "spot the power forward!" The shot charts below (regular season 2012-2013, from vorped.com) represent two front court players who start next to each other. Which is the center and which is the power forward?

PF or C, it really doesn't matter. Duncan is the second greatest player of his generation (behind Kobe) and is knocking on the door of top 10 of all time.

I hate the Spurs as much as the next guy, but cmon, guy, at least do some research.

Guys I know are better than Duncan

1) Jordan
2) Bird
3) Magic
4) Wilt
5) Kareem
6) Russell
7) Oscar Robertson

That's all I can think of. I love Hakeem until I die, but Duncan was better for longer and won more titles. He's probably on par as a player with someone like Karl Malone, and I'm sure Kobe and eventually LeBron are in there as well, but for right now, he's 8th in my book all-time.

Putting Dr. J and Moses Malone in there makes you look a dummy. Dr. J couldn't play defense and Moses averaged 20 and 12 for his career, but was light-years behind Duncan in passing the ball and blocked shots.

His 22 year career! He averaged that for 22 ****ing years! Drafted right out of high school and played until he was 40 averaging 20/12.

Moses gets no ******* respect on this board. The man was a ****ing 3x MVP of the league. He was a 14x all star, 6x rebounding champ (5 straight), NBA Champ and Finals MVP.

Are you talking all time, or playing today? Because I can name 9 better in both scenarios...

No you can't. You cannot name 9 better players playing today, if you're talking about careers and not current ability.
