I see he won no defense player of the year award from one publication in 2013. That doesn't inspire much confidence that we will be able to hide him on D.

He is a terrible defender. But so was Marco Belinelli. Marco shot .444/.421 in the playoffs while playing negative defense. KMart is a career 45/39 shooter while mostly playing on terrible teams. The one year he was on a team with good players (OKC after he was traded for Harden) he shot 45/43%.
He's here to get another shooter/scorer on the second unit. Miller Mills Martin Diaw West isn't much of a defensive unit, but that's not why they are out there.
You can also swap Anderson for Mills and get size, or Anderson for West and have five point guard/something guys on the floor together.
Really though, if you have a chance to pick up an 18-20 points per 36 minutes guy on the cheap you do it. Although I liked Butler and think he was a really good fit. Hopefully he lands somewhere good.

Sad to lose Peter. He is the best owner/CEO in Sports in my opinion and also many others.
From the sound of it, his wife has been fairly involved in the Spurs from early on, so it hopefully won't be an awkward transition.

I think you're right. The first thing my wife said was, has to be health. He's been in rehab before for alcohol. Wouldn't surprise me if it's caught up to him.
