Nice performance by Danuel House.

I was actually really impressed by Isaiah Hartenstein though. I had completely written him off as a useless player, but he actually showed some redeemable skills today. He has really good handle for a 7 footer.

For the Vet minimum, you take Melo. If he becomes a cancer, you cut his ass.

If he somehow plays like I think he would being a spot up 3 point shooter and give us some different looks, I'm all for it. He doesn't shoot great from 3, but if he can draw fouls like he used to and get 7-8 FTA a game, he will be solid.

So now we have lost our top 2 SF's. This seems to seal the deal that we are going to try and bring in Melo.

We have definitely taken a step back so far during the off-season. Lost arguably our two best defenders.

At this point, aren't we shooting for a 2019-2020 run? Summer 2019 is the year everyone expects the Warriors to break up (Klay, Boogie, Draymond, etc.). The only way I thought, realistically, that we would win a ring next year was if LeBron signed.

Morey would never admit it, but it seems 2018-2019 season is more a trial run before a championship run in 2019-2020. If Melo works, great. If not, we still have CP3 and Harden and could potentially go after more pieces to rebuild.

Is morey dumb or something? He's trying to replace our two best defenders with bumass melo?

So what 3s are available still? Basically the Rox have the MLE and vet minimum. Let's say we use one of those on Melo. Still need another 3 and D guy.

Do you think Morey survives the CP3 contract?
His job could be in serious jeopardy by the end of it. I think he's the best GM in the league but I can't see how CP3 plays a lot of games for the team. When you consider injuries + declining, the bet just seems awful.

Yea the contract could be a problem but he's one of the best GM in the league along with Ainge and whoever is on the Spurs. It'd be a gift to whatever team got Morey in the future if the rockets fired him. Then who would you replace him with?

100% chance. Only way Morey is EVER not the Houston Rockets GM is if Ferttita sells the team to an idiot or if Morey leaves on his own.

If he could just have some better luck with 1st round draft picks, I'd say he's the best in basketball.

You do understand that the money still comes in as long as an organization like Houston is competitive but doesn't have a great fan base when they're losing right? They can blow smoke up your ass all they want about beating the Warriors or winning a title but this is a revenue driven business and and being competitive enough to keep the sponsorship dollars up and adding more jersey sales is the most important thing in a market like Houston. Just ask Tilman about the 75% of crappy over priced food he sells.

I am. Always thought of him as playing the 4 after we took Anderson out of the starting lineup. I guess as it stands now Tucker would start at the 3 and Anderson would start again at the 4.

Agreed. Only reason I thought of him as a 4 is because we put him in when we sat Anderson down.

I was just arguing that point, not the rest of the points that we'd still need a 3 and D forward because that is true. I'm all in for melo. It's a risk that needs to be taken. If he plays within the offense for the first time in his career, then he could really be an asset and make us a lot better. I think it's possible too because he's never really been on a team quite like this.

We weren't going to conquer the warriors status-quo, so gotta find a boom or bust situation

Quite a bit of solid defense with Ariza and Mbah a Moute heading out of Houston. I don't blame Ariza for leaving for money. Rockets would know the most about Mbah a Moute's injury situation.

I'm very skeptical of bringing in Melo. The only thing that would make me comfortable is if Morey took it as a flyer on Melo with the option to dump him by February if things aren't working out.

Gotta trust Morey knows what he is doing.
