DeRozan is taking away any momentum we had. He should be benched.

Again DeRozan had the ball in his hand for almost every possession down the stretch and we lose the game. He's a good guy and everything but I would trade him for nothing right now to get him off of this team.

Lonnie showed a lot of good stuff today. The effort was there defensively and he boxed out better than anyone on the court.

Also was cool to see Duncan coach. As sad as it is to say I think the players were reenergized without Pop's presence. Maybe I'm reading too much into things but it's a little telling that his style of coaching isnt for this generation of players.

Marco was apparently somehow +19 tonight according to NBA.com.

Exactly... he's a prototypical 90s or early 00s wing in a league that is too smart for that now. Solid defenses eat those guys alive, but they live on the highlight fadeaways and never catch on that it's losing basketball on average.

In true Spurs fashion we take out the group that gets the large lead and replace them with the group (the starters) that hasn't played well together all season. Just keep them in. It's not like they are playing an ungodly amount of minutes.

RC/Pop absolutely got taken behind the woodshed in that trade. Kawhi is worth 6 DDs, and Verde is worth about 9 Poeltels. Might have been better to compete for one year then let him walk, have him sit out and fight the contract thing, whatever

The problem at the time was the questions on Kawhis health. He did basically miss the whole year and there was almost no definitive information. In hindsight yeah, they should have pushed for Siakem.

White is a PG. DJ is not. They might really need to start looking at DJ as a defensive two guard who can push it in transition. Dude just isn't a half court PG.

The Spurs are clearly not a good defensive team, but goodness, suddenly nobody misses against them.

We really took on the court leadership for granted. We have 0 of that. Patty Mills is the closest thing we have to a leader. But it's a bench player. Communication just isn't there on both ends.

One of the most ironic things about the early Spurs season.... Patty has been arguably the MVP of the team. I've never seen him play this well.

No kidding. He's the one player I haven't complained about this season. Which I never would have guessed.

Mills is good in small doses. Just can't play him 30 minutes a night,

What's weird is every game is close outside of the Boston massacre. DD is putting up good numbers. Theres got to be someone interested.

Partly true. There has been a few cases where they've come all the way back and taken a lead only to lose it. The 3rd quarter has been the best quarter, which is very un-spurs like. Unfortunately the 4th quarters have been brutally bad. This team is headed for the lottery.

Went into this season thinking Spurs a 'bubble' playoff team, though was leaning towards them not making the playoffs in a deep West. Now definitely don't see it. Spurs 22-year playoff streak was an incredible accomplishment (longest in any sport I think), but everything eventually ends and looks like this is finally the year.

This might be a hot take but whatever. Is our coaching staff really all that good? Tim Duncan is one of the smartest players ever and has the team's ear which is an interesting dynamic but this is his is first year. Becky has 5 years under her belt but didn't come up in the usually ranks cutting her teeth in the film room, etc. Hardy is the only coach to work his way up the traditional way but this is his first year on the front of the bench. Maybe it's nothing, but something just seems awkward.

Also, on a related note a lot of blow hards (espnSA) and local news are getting after Pop for not having Becky takeover as head coach to 'make history' when he was thrown out the other day. Bonner said that Timmy was the one who actually scouted the Blazers which is probably why he took over. But man, Pop gave Becky the opportunity to begin with. Ridiculous to see the local backlash.
