And BTW, for being such a great floor spacer Forbes is only shooting 36.7% from three. He can't even do the only thing he is supposed to do. I get he has perfect form and probably lights it up in practice. But it's becoming pretty clear he's weak between the ears.

Walker is shooting 38%. And Murray is shooting 34.5%. Id rather have the latter two behind the three point line than Forbes. At least they will be better for defense/rebs/transition. Let them play off ball with White running point.

Patty + Forbes is just something that should be banned.

I wish the Spurs were either definitely in the playoffs or definitely out. They really need to move DeRozan and start White-Walker-Murray so they can sink or swim. Forbes has proven that he's only worth spot duty off the bench. DeRozan is still atrocious on defense, a lot of team defensive lapses are from his sloppiness.

Good things happen when White is on the court. Blocks, steals, and fast breaks. Same with Murray, but he's still not a point guard, he and Walker need White to run the offense.

Adjust as necessary for whomever they get back for DeRozan, most likely moving Walker to the second unit.

You can argue for Patty all day. He's earned that. But Forbes has no business playing more minutes than Lonnie or D White. His best asset is his 3 point shooting and he's slightly above league average at that. Add in his atrocious defense and it's a net-negative.

Spurs lose yet again. Had the lead and lost it in the fourth. Demar had a chance to tie it at the free throw line to send it to OT and missed.

Demar had 36, Patty had 25 and Derrick had 0 points. No LMA and Murray seems to have fade away in the past Spurs games.

Every time when they get close to be at .500 they go on a losing streak.

Another disappointing loss in a disappointing season.

Surely there would be a buyer out there for Demar. He's shouting 54% from the field and 84% from the free throw line (both career highs), he's grabbing 5 rebounds, and dishing 5 assists. He'll never be a 3 point threat or great defender, but he's playing super efficiently and some contender or hopeful would surely take a chance they could get him to re-sign.

Demar would be perfect in a Lou Williams type role for a contender if he would be okay with coming off the bench. I'm not sure who each real contender would have to give up for the money to work though.

Spurs get a nice win against the Jazz. They've actually beat some good teams this month. But they still have a huge hole to dig themselves out of just to get to 500. Even then, with Memphis playing well and others in the hunt, playoffs are still highly unlikely. I actually think we should move Aldridge. We would get the most for him.

You guys realize no one is going to give up anything of value for DeRozan, right? He's got a player option and no one is giving up good picks or players for a "maybe" chance at keeping him. He isn't Kawhi.

I keep hearing "TRADE DEROZAN" but it's a huge lose/lose for the team. If they trade him for nothin, it doesn't magically clear up cap space. The team still won't have cap room (and even if they did, free agent class coming up is weak and there are no guarantees the spurs get whoever they want).

Best case scenario, honestly, is to try and sign him to a long term deal for less than max money and then move him in December when his contract/the CBA will allow it. Teams will give up assets for him if they know they will get multiple years guaranteed.

The timing and salary thing are similar. But Jefferson was not the quality of the player as Derozan, even with all of DeMar's apparent deficiencies.

I would say that anything over $20 million would be a huge bummer. Especially with the cap constricting.

Cap is going to 115mm from 109mm. It was expected to be 116mm.

Not really constricting, just not increasing as much.

Why? Glad you asked. Because China pulled so much advertising when Morey tweeted in support of the Hong Kong protestors.

If Derozan opts out and walks, and we don't resign any of the free agents (Poetl, Marco, Forbes, Eubanks, Weatherspoon) and cut Lyles, they could get down to 85mm. Keep Lyles and we are at 89mm.

According to CNBC (our old friend Jabari), we are looking to move Belli and Carroll. Teams are interested in Gay but our asking price is too high.

Also goes on to mention the goal is to make the 8th seed so trading LMA or DD is unlikely.

The Spurs have considered "liquidating everybody" but they have also game planned trying to upgrade their existing roster. "They've asked for a lot from teams (for Aldridge and DeRozan)," said Adrian Wojnarowski on the Woj & Lowe Trade Deadline Special. Yea it's a bummer. I really would try to move Aldridge now and maybe we could do a sign and trade with DD in the offseason. I think the most (if anything) that happens is loading off Carroll/Beli.

It's great and all that this team wants to work for the playoffs but their play this season, combined with their remaining road games and other teams on the up and up doesn't make that likely. 14th pick here we come.

So basically, any move or non-move is possible.

Aldridge and Derozan are both very likable guys and players, but they're both on the wrong half of their careers and we've never been a big time free agent destination. I don't mind going for the playoffs this season since it would break the record, but we've gotta have some kind of plan to getting back closer to contention going forward.
