Makes no sense that Garrison Matthews is as serviceable as he's been. But I'll take it.
It makes perfect sense. He is a 39% career three-point shooter and is putting up the same pro rata numbers he has the last couple of years. Just a better opportunity and a larger sample size now.
His shooting also allows the team to run the five out more effectively despite him being a lesser overall player than some other options.
Ok easy there, it doesn't make "perfect" sense. He's a career 39% shooter with most of that coming from outside the NBA. The fact that a guy who every team in the league passed on has been this efficient game in, game out at such a high volume/minutes is pretty remarkable.

in the NBA.His offensive rating over his first two seasons was actually a little higher than it is now. It was just a matter of finding the right fit, which is not easy to do for anyone, much less a player like him…but given the opportunity, I don't think it's surprising to see a guy put up similar numbers in a larger sample that he did in a smaller sample.
He's playing really well and I doubt he keeps it up for the rest of the season, but it's not surprising that a guy with his past NBA performance who did not just succeed but dominated at a decent college level is having some success.
I'm not saying it was to be expected or that I called it or anything like that. I'm just saying that it makes sense.
