Wang suffers first loss 3-0 from the Tribe. The Tribe owns Wang, who is 14-2 against the AL Central in the Regular season, and got bruised up twice in the ALDS last year.

Cliff Lee (Indians) goes to 6-0 with a sub-1.00 ERA. Yanks are swept by Detroit, sweep Seattle, and are in danger of getting swept again.

Pitching woes. Igawa stinks it up. Detroit makes it 4-0 against the Yanks. Boston continues to dominate the division.

Devil...er...Rays take the first two of three, but Yanks win last night with Muss on the mound, and will try to take the getaway game ro even the series today with the ever shaky Ian Kennedy on the mound.

With runners at first and second and one out, Kevin Millar hit a drive to left. Ramirez made an over-the-shoulder grab on the warning track, reached over the seven-foot wall to slap a Boston fan with a high-five and then turned and threw the ball to Dustin Pedroia. The relay from Pedroia to Kevin Youkilis doubled up Aubrey Huff to complete the 7-4-3 double play.

Even with this the Sox drop their 4th in a row. I am so glad that they have the day off today.

I am still can't bring myself to declare Tampa Bay a "good" team.

Hey Chowdah, the Yanks are in last place, thanks to Tampa Bay. Figured you'd be glad to see that.

It feels like............May.

The season is still young. As much as I would love to believe in my heart that the Yanks will finish in the cellar, my brain tells me otherwise.
Captain Insano

Yeah, hince the "it feels like May" comment. Starting pitching is a huge concern, though. The Sox will have no issues getting the pennant.

Edit: someone besides me and Chowdah actually reads this thread and caught me not checking facts, again. Lesson learned.

And I do stand corrected. I've memorized a lot of baseball facts, but I should always check references before posting. I was thinking about the Yankees surge in July/August of last year.

Note to self: do not post stuff after drinking beer. Good catch.

What is the punishment for PWI?

Don't worry about it, you aren't the first nor will you be the last to commit this infraction.

Sox just completed a sweep of the Brew crew and the Yankees are continuing to take it on the chin.

I just heard on NESN that Varitek is the first catcher to catch 4 no-hitters.

I did not know that about Tek either until I heard it on NESN. nice piece of trivia.

I was at the game yesterday. wish I had been there tonight

I didn't know about that either. Very cool.

However, Tek should have 5. Remember Schilling's shake off in the 9th with 2 outs?

Great game for Jon Lester! He will have a Hallmark movie deal within a year or so!

Tek should have 6...Pedro shook him once in the 9th with 2 down as well.

Bartolo Colon had a good start yesterday for the Sox. Obviously it is too early to say whether he will have a good season or add the depth the Sox are hoping for but it was promising to see him throwing strikes.

He was throwing in the low 90's and hitting the corners. He showed that he knows how to pitch without his 100 mph fastball so hopefully he'll stay healthy enough to be a quality 4th or 5th starter.

And it looks like he's dropped 30 pounds since the beginning of spring training!
Captain Insano
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, I saw Colon last night on BT and he did look solid.

Yanks begin the process of bringing Chamberlain out of the bullpen. God knows they need it (starting pitching) but I question the timing. It's becoming comical. You Sox people have to be living this up right now, because frankly, most of the world is thinking that it's a matter of time before the Yankees make a run, but I'm not so sure looking at the starting pitching and taking Jaba out of the set-up role now (should have been done at the beginning of the season, if at all)

I digress. Yanks still in the cellar after shutting out the O's last night.

While there is some enjoyment of rubbing my Yankee fan employee's noses in it (all two of them in a house full of Sox fans), I find baseball a little more interesting when there is some competition between them. If the Sox are just crushing their opponents and have a huge lead in the division, it takes away some of the "we NEED to win this game" feeling. I find myself going to bed in the 7th or 8th whereas if things are closer, I will stay up to see the conclusion.

Of course, I would be lying if I said that I want to see the Yankees win some in order to tighten it up. But a down to the wire race with the Sox closing it out against.... the Rays just doesn't sound as sexy.
Captain Insano
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, I know what you mean, Chowdah. I used to empathize with the crowd that hated the fact that ESPN showed every single Yanks/Sox game, but since I've been up here, I can see how great it is when the games mean something in August and September.

and theeeeeee yankees win in the bottom of the 9th on a Robbie Cano single.

Yankees win 4 in a row, and are 4-1 since the return of A-Rod. Of course, it's the O's and M's we're talking about here.

It saddens me that the best team in the Major leagues resides in the capital of freakin Massachusetts. At least we have the Giants.
Captain Insano
How long do you want to ignore this user?
5 in a row. Red Sux lose again. Today is a good day. Go Evil Empire.

On a serious note, the Yanks win was one for the recent ages. I was driving/hiking through Harriman State Park today during the game, but we scored 4 in the bottom of the 8th to take a one run lead. Rivera shut down the 9th. I had to endure Sterling and Waldman, but it was such a beautiful day in NY, I was not about to stay at home and watch it on TV.

Totally agree!

Yankees lose two in a row to the Orioles. Last night's game featured 9 home runs. I didn't watch the game continuously - went to bed after the rain delay in the middle of the 9th, but it was certainly a wild and wacky game that highlighted the lack of pitching and abundance of offense.

Manny hits numbers 500 and 501! Colon gets win #3 (not a bad off season pickup there).

Sox are looking to close out a 4 game sweep tonight.

Here is something interesting -- Jacoby Ellsbury has 7 steals in 3 games against the Orioles! That is sick! A single or walk is as good as a double for that kid.

HUGE series against the D-Rays coming up. I didn't think that would come out of me.

Any Sox fan feel like a friendly internet wager against a Rays fan?

Up for something based on game results, or series result, or whatever. And by "internet wager," I basically mean some kind of temporary bragging rights/shame thing--no tangible assets.

Dunno. Hadn't really thought it through. Agree with you on the fishnet thing, though.

Back from Thailand. Lots of catching up to do on the baseball scene. The only thing I checked on my ten minutes of internet the last two weeks was the Aggies fate against Rice and Arizona State. Obviously not good, but I couldn't wait two weeks, even in Thailand.

More to follow.

Wang out for 6 weeks (minimum) with a foot injury. (sprained ligament) Ouch. The Yanks get their offense back and clicking and bam...ace of the staff goes down. The pitching situation is very, very bleak here in NY.

I'm watching the news closely tonight. CC Sabathia will cost the Yanks dearly, but Cashman is left with few options.
