I'm going to bed in the 8th (have to be at work at 4:45 tomorrow morning) but Pettite throws 7 shutout innings as the Yanks win (possibly) their 5th in a row to go to 38-33.

Damon remains hot at the plate. The Yanks need more solid starts from Pettite. Could the old-timers be the answer in the post Randy Johnson experiment with Wang gone?

And Chowdah - I hate the gd Celtics. But I hate Kobe, Phil Jackson, and the Lakers worse. Good luck. That's all f*ing Boston needs - another championship this century. The Bruins will probably win the cup next year, too.

Yankees win again. Rasner pitches well in an 8-5 destruction of Jake Peavy and the Pads.

I admit that we are getting quite used to this. Many (me included) have still not come to terms about the Pats.

Yes, it is good to be a New England sports fan!

Cap - As I said, we've still not quite come to grips with that one. With 35 seconds on the clock, most fans I've talked to afterwards were convinced that they would somehow pull it out; I know I was.

But still, I'm not complaining. 6 championships in 8 years through 3 sports is a pretty damn good run for one city!

Yankees - you should get laid once in a while. It will improve your disposition.

The Yankees just picked up Ponson. His troubles with alcohol and the NY media pressure seem like a bad combination. It'll be interesting to see how that turns out.

Seven in a row!!!!! 40-33; the Rays are also hot, but it's getting closer.

Joba got himself into some bigtime jams and fought his way out of it. I'm starting to think this experiment might have some validity.

Looks like it is the end of the line for Curt Schilling. I would bet that "Mouth" is hanging it up in all likely hood. I sincerely doubt he'll be back in 09. The only way I'd see it happening is if he does it for virtually free in repayment for the 10 million that he didn't earn this year. The Sox certainly won't sign him for anything more than the league min.

Thanks for 04 and 07 Curt. He promised Sox fans a world series and delivered it.

did the Red Sox and Yankees see Roy O. shut down the rays?

Speaking of the Rays, the Orioles are also 4 games above .500. The NL East is usually a very boring division - there's no drama outside of the rivalry.
Need Houston to do their thing against the Rays. Roy O picthing well in the mistake by the bay (Tropicana Field) is a good sign - they've lost only 12 times there this year. Maybe they'll come back to reality soon, despite the exciting young talent and style of play.
It's only June, though, and the pessimist in me is waiting for the Yankees pitching staff to collapse.

cmon captain you need more faith giese is pitching the game of his life right now, let's believe

Saw the first five innings - Giese impressed. I like the fact that he's 31 years old, too, and although I did not see the throwing error in the 7th - he showed a lot of composure.

The Red pitcher was equally impressive though. He had better stuff, but Giese reminded me a little of Maddux - post 90's but pre-Cubs/Dodgers/Padres. Not unhittable, but still very crafty.

I watched most of the Yankees/Reds game today. The Yanks couldn't do crap with RISP. They had the bases loaded with no outs in the 2nd...and then proceeded to shoot themselves in the foot. And then it didn't get any better after that no matter which Reds pitcher was throwing.

Wasn't able to watch the game yesterday. Glad to see Petitte doing well. Giambi's stache is interesting as well. Posada stroking the ball. Lost 2/3 to a bad baseball team at home, but still can't be too disappointed in the Yankees play in June.

Didn't know where to post this, but I just returned from my trips to yankee stadium and fenway, and I'm pissed. I'm pissed because going to an astros game from now on is just going to be damn depressing from a pre/post game experience. The atmosphere these places brought out was amazing and blows anything MMP and its surrounds has right out of the water.

I really enjoyed my time at the yankee games (Tuesday/Thursday) and fell in love with boston for the game at fenway (friday). Great stuff, great environment, and a hell of a lot more fun in-game entertainment (mostly on the boston side)

Did you get to see the rolling rally in Fenway on Friday night? If so you got a double dose of awesomeness!
Captain Insano

I love both ballparks. I visited Fenway first, and loved it.
However, Wrigley and Fenway are beautiful little chapels nestled away in time capsule. You go there and you get the sense that you're at home, and all is good with the world.
Yankee Stadium is a cathedral, with an ominous presence that bores down on you. You know who walked in those grounds. You know the greatness that has resided there, and the stadium itself is a testament to that greatness. Ruth, Gehrig, Joe, Mantle, Yogi, Riz, Whitey, Maris, Reggie, Munson.

And I love both places. Yes, I even love Fenway, because I am a baseball fan first.

Also, Nice pitchers duel last night in Boston. Good to see Zona squeak it out against Beckett. Rasner goes tonight for the Yanks. We need to win this series against Pittsburgh, take care of the f*&^in Mets this weekend, and get back in the hunt.

Last Friday the Boston Celtics players and staff were in Duck Boats and drove through Fenway Park to celebrate the most recent of their record 17 NBA championships.

I didn't know the rally was happening until I turned on the TV.

htownag08 was at the game on Friday and I was curious to know if he/she was in the seats when the rolling rally happened.
