I don't think it's a train wreck. I think the manager and GM need to be able to work together. I liked Bo, but they all need to be on the same page. Not besties, but at least on speaking terms.

I'm good with this. We obviously werent going to give up on Luhnow's plan this soon, so if he was having issues with Porter's in-game execution of his plan, let him get someone in there that shares the same vision. Then Luhnow has to own it from the front office to the field. Porter was never going to win this fight. Really stupid of him to even try.
So now we can had consistent batting order and give up on lefty/righty crap?
the obvious question...how many people in baseball agree with Luhnow's vision?
Houston is gonna end up with two pro GM's who think they are above the game and have nothing to show for it.
Lots of off field black eyes for the team this year, going back to the deal with Springer coming out of camp. Houston may end up growing talent but honestly how many players are going to want to resign with a buch of gamblers and statisticians running the club?

also...Crane has fired 2 managers in less than 3 years --- may not exactly have great candidates lining up to interview for the job

Not arguing that really, just not turning a blind eye to everything else as well.
Everybody knew Porter was just keeping the seat warm. He wasn't going to be here long-term.

I wouldn't get along with Astros management either. It doesn't sound like many do.
Biggio and Bagwell would be wise to avoid managing the Astros. Career-killer.

Based on Moneyball, Art didn't get along with BB and the whole sabermetrics approach. Doubt he would hit it off with Jeff or even want to get into that situation again.
One name I've already seen thrown out there is Phil Nevin. Been coaching in the Padres minor league system and there are whispers he's ready for the bigs.

Not sure where I saw this, but I remember hearing that art howe was not pleased with how he was portrayed in that film because he said he was not anti-sabermetrics like the movie indicated. Doesn't mean he would want to manage the Astros, though
