I want Ensberg. He has voiced his support for the #process, seems to have a good relationship with the young players, has big league experience, young/passionate, and he's a fan favorite.

Biggio would be cool, though.

I'd be really happy with Ensberg

I wanted them to get Bogar when we hired Porter. Biggio was at the juice box the other day talking to Lunhow. Could have just been a normal visit, though.

Like the idea of Ensberg a lot.

Isn't Bigg serving as some sort of asstn to the gm or advisory role with the organization.

Think whoever it is needs to be familiar with Lunhow and #theprocess. Not only on a personal level but make sure the new guy is 100% on board with how he's building this team.

I don't think I'd like Biggio at the helm. He's got almost zero experience coaching. Bogar might be a solid choice. I really think they should have gone after Ausmus before they hired Bo anyways. But NO to Dave Clark. Please God, no.

And I'm going to the game tonight, rocking my new "old" Biggio jersey.

Let's go with Biggio as manager, B**** bench coach, Berkman hitting coach, Oswalt pitching

Lots of moves today.

Biggio is too smart to take the job right now. The Astros are still 2+ years away. Gotta let one more guy take the losing seasons...then it'll be time for Bidge to jump in.

of course I probably said the same thing after Porter was hired -- figuring he'd be the last manager to take the beatings...

I think now is the time to jump. Our team should sniff 80 wins next year with a move and continued progress.

Playoffs in 2016 is not out of the picture as long as we spend a little and guys keep developing.

Agreed. Get the manager you want here when we start winning. And it might not be so far away. After a horrible first month and a half, they've gone 48-53 (which is 77 wins at that pace for an entire year). A FA bat, healthy Springer and Fowler, and any more help with the pen and this team might go well over .500 next year.

This Koolaid is delicious by the way.

While it is Kool Aid, it isn't unreasonable at all. Now neither is not progressing, having some regression, a injury or 2, then winning 59 games next year.

From mlbtraderumors...

  • There were some within the Astros organization that thought Porter should be dismissed following the 2013 season, reports ESPNs Buster Olneyin his daily Insider-only blog. However, the prevailing opinion wound up being that it was too soon to let go of a manager who had just completed his first season. Olney spoke with team sources that told him some players and club employees are angry over the situation. Some club employees are even looking for jobs elsewhere, according to Olney.
  • Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo is likely to be a candidate, sources tell ESPN.coms Jerry Crasnick (Twitter link).
  • Some potential candidates, according to MLB.coms Brian McTaggart, include former Astros star (and current adviser) Craig Biggio. Other possibilities include bench coaches Tim Bogar (Rangers) and Dave Martinez (Rays) along with third base coaches Dave Clark (Tigers) and Joe McEwing (White Sox). McTaggarts colleague, Richard Justice, also tweetsthat Bogar is a candidate.

If Dave Clark even gets an interview, after 29 years I may finally have to look into switching my allegiance to another MLB club.

Two springs ago, Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow gathered his players to introduce his new manager, Bo Porter.
That very day, some players foresaw trouble.
"It was extremely uncomfortable being in that room," one remembered.
Players and coaches remember a weird dynamic between the two men.
"Bo kept interrupting Jeff," one player said. "He seemed to think he was the boss. If you'd been there, you would have known it wasn't going to work."

quote:
From the beginning, there was a disconnect. In that first Spring Training, Porter did things that struck the front office as silly.
For instance, Porter had the walls papered with motivational sayings and placed mirrors in each locker to remind players to look at themselves first before blaming a teammate. He had players turn their chairs away from their lockers, his way of telling them to look forward.
If Porter had been managing a Little League team, that stuff might have played well. Adults? Not so much. When one coach left the big league staff, he went directly to Luhnow and said, "You had better get that guy away from your young players."

If Bidge didn't compete with the big time roiders, he could have won the MVP that year.

I'd be curious who actually said this. I can see those things being silly but why would you think you would need to fire a guy for that? I think Richard Justice is making crap up. Same garbage he wrote when he was with the comical. (Sorry, I still have disdain for him when he used to troll people daily on comical.com)

Went to the game last night with incredible seats behind home plate. Altuve is amazing. Lots of good at bats for the good guys. Things are looking up!

I was just about to come post this. Time will tell, but it looks like Luhnow may have made a mistake.
