Yep. Springer (A) and carter (B).

I was just shocked that they were almost the exact same in terms of k% and bb%. I guess I didn't realize how much Springer k'd.

i will say about this team. we have a lot of guys that strike out a lot. but, dang we have a few mashers now. if these guys mature in their plate discipline, good night.

What are the mannerisms some of the players do after someone hits a HR? I mainly notice Springer doing it. Has his arms up in the air with hands facing down looking kind of like a monster.

Turns out it's the Rangers dropping like a bowling ball in the ocean with their twenty players on the DL. Astros may pass them this week as the 'Stros are playing well, and the Rangers embark on a ten day road trip through the AL West, then come home to Detroit. I follow both teams, but they are going in opposite directions right now.

His stats have room to grow with that low ass babip. Player A ain't going to improve much, and unless they are a really fast high% line drive hitter, they aren't going to improve those stats. They might even see those stats get worse.

Ok, I will go ahead and argue that if you had added that player A was a plus outfield defender with a plus arm and plus speed... well, then I would take player A.


Don't know if yal remembered or not, but the crawfish boxes told everyone that George Springer is Chris Carter with more infield hits (hence the higher BABIP and batting average), except he has the other tools too.


Just imagine if Chris Carter could play a plus outfield position. His hitting would be extremely valuable as a plus outfielder.

Also, if you remember my article, Chris Carter's batted ball profile doesn't lend itself to a high BABIP, plus he's slow.



Look at the difference in Carter and Springer's BABIPs based on their speed and batted ball profile.

I haven't studied up on how batted ball profiles so now it looks like I have something to do for the rest of my workday!

Dude.. carter's BABIP will never come close to springers. Carter is home run, double off the wall, walk, or k. Springer literally puts it everywhere, does all the same things, and has the same power.

Exactly, mazag... that's why it's hard to distinguish player A and B without knowing that stuff.

Just noticed Correa (who hits RH) has a .537 OPS against lefties in 63 ABs and a 1.064 OPS in 173 ABs against righties. That has to be the largest OPS split I've ever seen. If Correa was a lefty, it would make more sense but he's not. Any ideas on what is causing this?

Also of note, Appel started last night and gave up 6 hits, 1 BB, and 4 ER in 3 innings. He also struck out 3.

SSS with Correa would be my guess. He destroyed lefties last year.
