Thank you guys for coming. Wanted to say a couple things. When you respect baseball, baseball respects you. I made a mistake. I'm embarrassed more than I've ever been in my life. I don't run when I make a mistake. When you put yourself in situations, you own it.

I was not true to my wife after 42 years. I broke my trust. I'm here to own that mistake and apologize to her and to those I disappointed, those who have trusted me and I let them down.

Sounding more and more like that sexual assault report is correct.

I think it's telling that he didn't actually cite the affair as the reason that he resigned.

This jives with the alleged sexual assault. He cheated on his wife - the woman he cheated with a filing a civil suit, and that's probably when he fessed up - "Hey, honey - I cheated on you - and now the gold digger is suing me. Love ya".

I guess he had to step away to fix marriage now. He clearly said he intends to stay in baseball.

wow this story is bizarre.

Why the hell do you do a press conference to announce this? The leaks weren't getting to the point they had to be re-messaged.

My job requires me to travel.

It would be my expectation if I were to cheat on my wife... any chance to save my marriage would require a job where I wasn't sleeping in hotels. It would almost certainly require me to change jobs.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Ron and his family as go through this tough time. It's a tragic thing to see Ron and his family have to work through. Be strong Ron.

I am not a fan of Washington and I'm certainly not a fan of the Rangers. But, that having been said, I sure hope & pray that Washington & his wife are able to weather this storm. Coming out of this united and stronger than ever would be the very best lesson they could teach any of us. It'll take a whole lot of work, patience & forgiveness. Best wishes to them.

Well, this story sure went dead. I still don't see the point in pulling the plug a few weeks to go in the season. He could have just retired and saved himself the PR drama. The local media seems very unwilling to do any dirty laundry sifting and if there was some crime committed it's sure not been put out there.
