Meh, looks like the runner initiated contact. The catcher just pushed her off with her elbow. If the runners weren't uncoordinated as hell they wouldn't have fallen and this wouldn't have ended up on the internet.

The second runner looks like she wants to fight and the catcher don't give a s***.

The catcher is in the baseline and it doesn't look like she's about to make a play in either instance. She is throwing her elbow- I know it is somewhat subtle- but she's throwing her elbow in both cases.

That's bull****.

Looked like the umpire missed the first one while watching other action. The second one, that's on the umpire. He's standing right there- not sure how he missed that OR decided not to do anything about it. I have to think he still somehow missed it, but that's pathetic.

It doesn't really look that bad. Sometimes you have to ignore stuff in sports. I can't even recall the # of cheap shots I took playing basketball.

I would have lowered my shoulder and gotten under the catcher's rib cage for blocking the baseline without the ball. If her coach isn't going to position her properly, someone needs to help. The runner initiated the contact because the catcher was out of position.

  • Blue was paying less attention than a dad's pitch outfielder
  • Catcher was out of position by being on the baseline without the ball or not about to make a play (as stated above)
  • Coach should have taken one of the team and gotten in Blue's face over it

Remember this is a high school kid who made a mistake and adults all over the world are calling her all kinds of names. If I was the parent, I would be upset with my daughter, but more upset with the names that adults (who should know better) are calling her.

If runner makes contact, they are removed from the game. This is a rule to prevent the Pete Rose type stuff. Catcher should have been removed for throwing the elbow, but that's the end of it. High school kids gonna do this stuff every now and then.

It appeared they both touched on the way back after getting hit. Of course the umpire should be watching for this. If he was, he would have saw the elbows thrown. Not sure what the heck he was doing.

What's funny is that umpire was selected to do that game as "one of the best of the best" umpires in the state. Of course that selection process can be very political in nature.

Again, why are we discussing the actions of a high school kid on this board?? This is not the appropriate place to do this....it should be taking place in the UIL and superintendent offices.
