If he does have to miss 8 games now is the time to do it given who we have for the next 12.
After the appeal, expect it to drop to either 5 or 6. As mentioned above, this is probably the best stretch on the schedule to be suspended, and given his recent struggles at the plate, this probably comes at a great time. Relax. Clear his head. Then come back when the schedule picks up.
I imagine they'll let the appeal hang out for a few days atleast to let Profar play 2B a couple days more.

and the Andrus punch was more of a closed fist slap. Pretty pathetic that he got suspended for that.
yeah, that's nuts that Donaldson could come flying out of the dugout like that, take a flying leap to hit someone, and not catch a suspension while someone on the field at the time gets a game. It sounds like Andrus was suspended for punching Pillar - another guy that came flying from off the field to throw punches.

How does Pillar get nothing? Andrus is just supposed to stand there and let himself get punched by Pillar who was flying in there to throw a haymaker?
Per sources, there will be no suspensions for Pillar or Donaldson, although it just came out that Donaldson was fined $1,000.

Makes me wonder if they are playing "match the suspension" game. That is 6 games on TOR's part so far and 9 on the Rangers. Watch Bautista get 2-3, although with that Pillar/Donaldson weak sauce, he may get zero.
Heck, outside the dirty slide, Donaldson and Pillar were far more active in the fight than Bautista.
Right. At this point, it seems like 0 is more likely than 3. His only undoing might be admitting his intent with the slide after the game. Odor doled out his punishment. May as well leave Bautista's mendoza line average in their lineup.

He got about 50 games of pride knocked out of his jaw. How Elvis gets one game and the Bautista/Donaldson/Pillar trio get one between them is beyond me though. I think Odor stands a decent chance of getting the 8 knocked down by several.
These suspensions are very illogical. No issue w/ Odor/Gibbons/Chavez. But, if you are going to suspend Andrus, you have to suspend Donaldson and Pillar as well. Bautista getting same as Andrus just makes no sense, although I though Donaldson/Pillar should have received bigger suspension than Bautista.
Maybe he can make some MMA appearances during his suspension. Or at least show some of those NBA "tough guys" how it's done.
Hoping the lack of logic ends up working in Odor's favor. Given 5 is a common # for hitting a player intentionally, Chavez was a little light too - especially given it could have reignited the brawl.
7-8 is what I expected for Odor. Michael Barrett got 10 for a landed haymaker after a legal play with no confrontation by the opponent, so a few games short of that was what I figured it would be.
