After 26 games
BA: .244
OBP: .323
SLG: .430
OPS: .753
AB: 86
H: 21
2B: 5
3B: 1
HR: 3
RBI: 12
BB: 10
K: 41 (only 3 K in his last 12 AB)

It looks as though he's making some adjustments and improving a bit. He's hit a respectable .258 over his last 10 games. Looks like his defense has improved as well, with only 1 error so far on the season. That's hard to really gauge though without more advanced metrics. He actually looks like he's the best OF on the roster so far.

I will admit, I'm surprised. Kudos to him.

I'd argue he already lived his first dream, considering he was a NFL starting qb who has a playoff victory.

So this is his 2nd dream, not backup.

Tim's hitting .316 in May and his biggest improvement has been versus lefties. His L/R split is now .258/.261.

Likely a good adjustment helped along by a hitting coach. I'd be interested to see his game logs vs. specific pitchers. Is he feasting on bad pitchers who are similarly struggling in AS?

Only thing holding him back from AAA if he continues this pace though is three pretty good outfielders already on that team and a lack of ABs. An injury late in the season and he may be the call up.

Tebow struck out three times tonight. His only non-K was a game-tying three-run HR.

He's got nothing if not an eye for the dramatics.

He has hit a home run in his first instructional game, first Class A game, first Class A+ game, and first AA game, if I remember correctly.

100% chance he gets moved up to AAA if he keeps up anything near the same rate of improvement. The Mets are desperate to get him up to the big league club and to start selling (more) Tebow jerseys.

After 45 games
BA: .234
OBP: .325
SLG: .372
OPS: .698
AB: 145
H: 34
2B: 6
3B: 1
HR: 4
RBI: 19
BB: 17
K: 67

Compared to rest of team (minus those who have played fewer than 10 games)
BA: 6th (3rd among OF)
OBP: 5th (2nd among OF)
SLG: 7th (2nd among OF)
OPS: 6th (3rd among OF)

Batting 8th in the lineup seems to be where he gets his most production. His numbers, by themselves, are not impressive. When comparing to his teammates, specifically the other OF, they look stronger. That looks to be more a reflection of the lack of talent on the Mets AA club.

Still, I have to tip my cap. He's lasted longer than expected and played better, especially at the AA level, than I thought possible. Kudos to him.

It'll be interesting to see how he does the rest of the season. He has a year under his belt now and should be a little more acclimated to the grind of a minor league season. We'll see if that translates into better performance as he continues to adjust to AA pitching.

I think the question is what level of performance would he have to reach for the Mets to promote him to AAA? I'm thinking if he can hit .250, he might get promoted. I mean, let's be honest, he's not your typical prospect. This is still somewhat of a publicity stunt by the Mets to generate interest and revenue for their minor league clubs, but kudos to Tim for actually making it look legit.

Baseball is not an easy sport and he's holding his own quite well, all things considered. Most importantly, his playing time doesn't appear to be taking away opportunities from more deserving prospects in the Mets system. They seem kind of thin on outfield prospects.

I think the problem with promoting him to AAA is that they seem pretty loaded with adequate outfielders. They have 4 guys in the OF that have played 10+ games w/ an OPS above .720. There's another 3 that have played fewer than 10 games. It is a far more crowded outfield at that level than anywhere else in their organization. Will be interesting to see it play out.

Again, I have to admit. He's proving that he can at least compete at that level.

Yep. Not ideal, and you'd like his power numbers to come up a bit and his strikeouts to come down... but if you ignore the age, and just act like he was a college recruit... he's overachieving for his amount of time in the minors.

Better AA player than Michael Jordan.

Tebow has stayed hot in June, and is now batting .320 for the month. He's also leading all outfielders on the team in OPS. And while his HR numbers havn't increased, he's hitting more doubles. He's also reduced his strikeouts; down to 13 in June, for a rate of one K ever 3.84 ABs. It was one every 2.16 ABs in April and May.

True on its face, but I would like to know how Jordan would have done if he had the more gentle path that Tebow took, plus another year in the minors.

Sure, but those were impressive NBA titles that the Barons won in '94 and '95.

Also, you have to wonder how dedicated Jordan was to actually pursuing baseball vs Tebow. I know there's long been rumors that Jordan was "forced" to take a break from the NBA due to gambling issues, but this would allow him to avoid the stain and humiliation of being suspended. If you know you're going back to the NBA eventually, how hard are you going to work on your baseball skills while riding buses throughout the deep south playing AA ball?

Of course, from all we know of Jordan as a competitor, that may not have mattered and he may have done all that he could. Regardless, I'd definitely put Tebow ahead of Jordan at this point.

If he can learn to hit the change up he'll make it. That pitch still seems to elude him. Work ethic got him there. He spent the off season with a swing coach in California. I suspect he'll do the same this next off season.

Amazing accomplishment even if it ended here. I'm still not sold on Travis' MLB prediction, but what I thiught would never happen is now at least a possibility.

As far as Jordan goes, he jist never looked to have the compact hand speed to get a bat into the zone as needed. Just too long and lanky of a dude.

If the Mets had a pulse, I would not see Tebow being called up. But lets face it, the Mets are awful. They have absolutely nothing to lose by getting Tebow up to the bigs.

Agreed.

Also, I believe I've said it before on the thread, but if not, I will gladly eat crow for my initial predictions. He's been a huge surprise. Good for him.

I remember when he dated the first Miss Universe for three months, and she left after 3 months because she couldn't get him to have sex.
