Haha - I imagine Ron Gant's family were not small people!
Reminds me of a story. In college there were 5 of us who did monster road trips in two summers to cram in as many ballparks as we could. We're talking like 12 parks in 14 days type pace each year. We were in Cincinnati in 2001 and they were hosting the Astros. We went in as soon as the gates open and there are the 5 of us and one random little kid standing above the Astros dugout down the 3B line. I don't remember exactly what happened but somehow we felt like Charlie Hays had big timed the little kid - it was damn near just us and kid in the stadium - and my best friend started giving him hell about it and it devolved into a "Maybe that's why Chris Truby is starting at 3B over you". Charlie Hays may have ignored the kid but he didn't ignore us - he stopped taking infield specifically to come over to mouth back to us and to start signaling to the security officer.
We all backed down because we did not want to booted (which actually did happen a few nights prior in Detroit). But Griffey Jr was already hurt and not playing so it probably would have been a better story.
The only two things I remember from the game was that Roy Oswalt got his first career W (out of the pen) and Neon Deion PR late in the game.
Pulling up the box score now, even without Junior, we saw 3 HOFers + (possible) Billy Wagner.....and I just remembered that one of the guys with us was from China Springs (outside Waco) had played with Donnie Sadler as a kid - and Sadler was playing for the Reds that night
