Rangers and Stars just announced that they are joining Victory+ LOL.
Stars? They announced that back in August and are currently airing games.

I agree, that's not a bad price at all for roughly 150 games or so. I wonder what the number of subscribers they expect to get is. Between bars and households, is 25,000 out of the question? I really have no idea.

Victory+ has already been downloaded over 500,000 times and the only non-DFW sports team on it currently are the Anaheim Ducks which might account for 150,000.

But that is all free viewing, so who knows what their subscriber numbers will be.

Only ****ty part of victory I've found so far is that's it's not available in all app stores yet (LG smart TVs or my Microsoft pro tablet). Hopefully that's fixed by April.

Just read Evan Grant's article and he mentioned the blackout restrictions. There are none in Texas for the Rangers right? So I shouldn't have an issue streaming the games in the Houston area if no other cable option materializes?

Rangers announced they will be on the Stars platform essentially.

So the same app but you have to pay to watch the rangers while the stars are free? That seems… odd.

From what I know the streaming cost is an MLB requirement, not a Victory + requirement. The cost is in line with the streaming cost of other teams with a DTC streaming platform/partner.

So if you pay does that mean you can watch out of state or will there be an mlb.tv simulcast to watch with an mlb package?

I would think our announcers would travel like they have always done but they haven't formally announced that yet.

People who live out of state/out of market (like myself) will be able to continue with the MLBTV plan like always. I believe it's $99/season for just the Rangers games or $139(?) for all the MLB teams' games.

I'm pretty happy with this. Have been pretty happy with Victory+ for stars and 100 for the full season is not bad for the Rangers

That seems completely ok with me and I will gladly pay it. I also know if I'm paying for something I'm more likely to use it. I haven't watched much starts on victory plus even though I check in on them daily. If I'm paying for rangers I will feel obligated to watch. $100 for 150ish games also seems like a good deal.

For less than the cost of a cup of coffee per day.
