Regarding Leiter, IMO, this is a great scenario.

The Rangers have no choice but to give him the ball and he has no reason to look over his shoulder. I think he pencils in as the #4. He has pitches he is confident with and the pressure shouldn't be to be great... but to chew innings. He will make mistakes, but just needs to stay in the game and burn innings.

They will absorb suck games and trot him back out there.

I almost wouldn't mind putting him in a tandem with Dunning. They throw from opposite sides of the rubber and are two different types of pitchers. Also limits the both of them from having to go through lineups more than 2 or 3 times.

Heard Nadel mention tonight that Leiter might be starting game #2 because they want to separate guys who can't go long so Evo/Leiter/Mahle (if healthy)/DeGrom/Rocker (whoever wins the #5 spot).

Would be wild to have Leiter pitching Friday night

We've talked about trading someone like Taveras. Taveras is Arb in '25 ($4.75M), '26, '27.

DBacks looking to move Jordan Montgomery. Speculation is a MLB caliber P + MLB Position.

Would love to see a trade where DBs eat money in trading Monty for Taveras+P
With Gray out for a while, a move like this becomes imperative. We have a MLB ready centerfielder that can't get on the field. Maybe we wait and see how the pitchers we have work out.

So, I heard the Rangers will be on Victory+, correct? Since I bought Fubo to watch them on the regional sports network, I don't need Fubo any more. I guess I can go back to Youtube, regain TNT/TBS/TruTV (which I had bought Max for, so I could watch the NCAA tourney). I'll probably keep Max because there's other stuff I watch on there.

They're negotiating with Fubo to get RSN on there. So you may get it anyways.

I'm holding out hope that something will get worked out with Hulu before opening day, but ultimately I'll gladly pay the $100 if needed to actually be able to watch them for the first time in years. There's also the pending merger of Fubo and Hulu, so who knows what will happen on that end.

I get the sentiment and will like to see how it lays out.

My expectations:
Eovaldi: 7+ IP
Mahle: 6 +/- IP He'll likely make it through 5 full IP and then start the 6th Inning.
deGrom: 5 +/-
Leiter: 5
Rocker: 4-5?!

I get bookending Eovaldi, but I'm not so sure Mahle and deGrom are iron-horses.

The Rangers have a day off each of the 1st 4 weeks, if I heard correctly. So, there is that.

7Gs <- That would give #2 two GS.

That's 22 Gs.

If Leiter is #2 and they stick with a 5 man rotation, Leiter would get:
vBoston, @Cincy, (miss vTBR) @ Chicago, (miss @Sea), vLAAA, vLAD, (miss @Oak), @SFG

I would try to flip that LAD and Oak series and have Leiter pitch to Oak instead. Maybe insert a BP game.

Bradford
Robert Garcia
Milner

Prospects:
13. Khol Drake (24, likely AAA)
21. Mitch Bratt (21, likely A+)

Prospects 22-30 are all RHPs.

My word he's been terrible for 5 years now. This is just a guy who the Rangers can have start or replace a starter early and just eat innings in what will likely be a big loss.

Is he better than Garabito as a starter? Cause that's what you're looking at if any starter has an issue.

Last year Garabito was washing cars for money in like Ecuador... while playing in a Men's league.

Corbin is the definition of an Innings guy.

30 GS, 5+ IP, 3.5 ERs

If you are a mashing team... all you can ask is to keep you in games until you get to the BP.

Days rest:
Days - BA, OBP
4: .329, .363
5: .276, .340
6+: .262, .325

Times facing:
1st: .309, .369
2nd: .300, .338
3rd: .272, .318

I'd expect the Rangers had some compelling splits and a game plan offer that really resonated. Inserting Leiter and Rocker and then Bradford will help give him an extra day rest that return him to a great ERA and extend his pitching career.

I think Patrick Murphy has made this team. He's had a great spring and provides a much needed long man out of the bullpen. Has a similar story to Colby Lewis.

Looks like Apple TV is making a documentary on the 2024 World Series. The trailer was released a few days ago and it appears to be well made. Sad that we never got one of those. I don't count the "documentary" that was released recently on the 2023 World Series since it was essentially an extended highlight video.

I have no idea how long it will take for Corbin to be ready, but makes a great addition like Heaney, but cheaper.

I could see Rocker getting a GS 1st time through... maybe twice.

Then Corbin replaces him.

I'm concerned signing Corbin is the result of bad news on Bradford. But it could just be to buy more time allowing the Rangers to put him on the 60, to avoid more damage risking TJ

Was really excited to see Bradford perform this year and see if he could replicate the start of last season. It's such a huge advantage to have quality starting pitching on a league minimum salary. We have three guys that could potentially fit that description. I'm hoping we can at least get one full year of quality pitching from one of those guys while they are making the league minimum.

I don't think it has anything to do with Bradford. I think it has everything to do with having a pitching staff that is injury prone like a mfer, and we need a warm body to eat innings in case of emergency. We all know pitching is the biggest question mark of this team, and if we have a good season, I don't see how we don't pick up another bona fide starter as long as Leiter and Rocker don't become those guys.

Pretty sure they already said he's going to be shutdown for 3-4 weeks at which it'll be another 2 before he's ready at the earliest to start a game. Just hope nothing pops up between now and then.
