Regarding Leiter, IMO, this is a great scenario.
The Rangers have no choice but to give him the ball and he has no reason to look over his shoulder. I think he pencils in as the #4. He has pitches he is confident with and the pressure shouldn't be to be great... but to chew innings. He will make mistakes, but just needs to stay in the game and burn innings.
They will absorb suck games and trot him back out there.
