Beer league softball is dangerous. I broke my tibia, fibula and dislocated my ankle a few years back.

The same guy who told me "Don't look at it but it's not that bad" walked away and puked everywhere.

I played for the first time this past year in a league and that was my first indication that I am not as athletic as I once was. I was at first base and felt like I ripped every muscle in my leg making a stretch on a throw

Had to take a breather and tell myself alright we ain't doing that again. Routine plays only

It's my fault for making fun of Grosse Tete and his oblique strain.

Well good news is that it's not left oblique discomfort.
Or a left oblique bruise.

I know that's probably sarcasm but if he does end up going on the shelf for a long period of time then it might be really tough sledding. We're going to depend on him ALOT
BS. Big Jon is locked and loaded.
You mean, Big Jon is jacked, locked, and loaded.

Just when y'all start hating on Jake, he quickly ups his stats to a .250 average and .808 OPS. If we could get .235-.240 from Jake with a .700-.750 OPS, I'd be ecstatic.

Hitting a HR has to be one of the best feelings a professional athlete can have.

That and throwing/scoring a TD.

Even those of us who never made it to the show, it was always the best feeling no matter the level of ball. Everything felt like slow motion, you nail it perfect-perfect, completely smooth off the bat, and watch it fly as you trot down the line.

Nutting a persimmon driver on the screws.

Making a hole in one.

I wouldn't know......yet.

For me it was a couple game winning buzzer beaters in basketball over the years. Nothing better. Still fun in pick up games to hit the game winner in a tight one.

To make this post somewhat Astros related, I have not heard a peep on the release date for City Connect uniforms? Wonder when itll start to leak or we get a preview. March 31st should be the first date we wear them.

Didn't make the pros and barely enough in college to be considered a "has-been" but the feeling of just walking into a stadium with 80,000+ screaming for or against you is a rush that's out of this world. If you could bottle & sell that nobody would do another drug ever again.

A bases clearing triple to cap off an 8-run comeback in the playoffs was probably my personal best feeling. We were down 10-8 and my two out bases loaded triple put us ahead 11-10 and we held on in the bottom half. We barely snuck into the playoffs and knocked off the number one team in state. Got our asses handed to us the next round though lol

Since we're talking personal sports glory..

I still play sunday men's league baseball. This past year we played our rivals and the 9-time in a row league champs in the championship. I threw 160 pitches in a complete game shutout.

That last out on a slow comebacker that I fielded and threw to first was such an amazing feeling. Feeling like the game and your teammates hopes are in your hands and coming through has got to be a top sports feeling. Pitchers are head cases and the game isn't really solely in their hands even though it feels like it. But pitchers have a unique ability in team sports to put the team on their backs.

Champagne and bourbon celebration with my teammates distracted me from the debilitating shoulder pain for a couple hours.

I couldn't move my arm for weeks. Definitely worth it.

If you or anyone else is looking we have a mens league out west of houston (New Ulm, La Grange, Weimer, etc) that plays on Sundays starting around the end of May. Normally always looking for extra players. Pretty Competitive. Recent High School grads, current college players, many former college and professionals from the area play. Ages range from 18-40+.

Ahhh... beer league softball stories. Nothing like running around in the outfield in your 40s -- spending the evening sprinting after fly balls or ones hit to the fence, then not being able to walk for days.

Memories. I miss it.

Nothing worse than taking a bad angle and having one go to the fence

Not bad angle -- just fat and old.

Doesn't even have to be in your 40s. I played in a beer and softball league (in that order) with my dad's company while I was still in school. Had a double header where the SS got too drunk between games to play the second game. I hate playing infield and was normally the left fielder. Got stuck at SS for the 2nd game and picked up a ball the 3B (also drunk) booted and short armed a throw to first. Got the runner, but also tore my rotator cuff and it has never been the same.
