Actually, the use of Caratini, Diaz, and Singleton at first based on matchups helps offset the loss of Walker some. Not being able to trade Caratini definitely adds some insurance on the bench. Getting regular ABs for Caratini without an injury could be challenging, though, which I hope becomes the case.

This is how I tore my ACL in Beer League softball 30 years ago -- sprinkler head in CF. Loud pop they heard all the way in the dugout. 8/10 pain for a moment then it just sorta hurt. Finished the game at 1B but swinging wasn't much fun.

Knee swole up like a softball overnight. My regular doc says "just a sprain you're fine." Finish the season playing mostly 1B. I couldn't fully swing at all or my knee would "pop out"; I just slap hit to the opposite field.

My knee got worse and started popping out pretty regularly over the next couple of months just doing regular stuff -- pickup up a kid or a carseat or laundry basket or whatever.

Finally got really bad and I made an appt with an ortho, the tu sports doc who had just scoped their starting running back. I was in his office for maybe 30 seconds, he performs the Lachman test and says your ACL is torn. I asked if he needed images or anything else? He said "I don't, but we can take them if you do. At minimum your ACL is torn and you have cartilage damage. We'll see what we see when we do the scope and fix everything we find."

Did the x-ray and MRI in his office right then, scheduled ACL reconstruction for the following week.

Well good news is that it's not left oblique discomfort.
