Alex will be here if he wants to stay in Houston as an Astros lifer like Altuve.
It'll be a good offer, it won't be near the best in terms of total value, years, or average value.

Now if they come back and up it then that's a bit of an overpay (OK I'm fine with that to keep him in the orange and blue) but if another team comes in and overpays even more than fine. It is what it is but lets not sit here and act like the Astros made him some limp dick offer and let him walk (a la Springer).

What would y'all consider an overpay for Breggy? My max offer would be 6/190. That most likely won't get it done, but we would be foolish to overpay IMO. I have a feeling that some team is going give him something like 8/270.

My priority is extending Tucker… So if you could guarantee me that we do that, I'd let Bregman walk.
So if we wont extend Tucker, then I'm OK with spending a little bit more on Bregman.
I'd say 8/212 (26.5 AAV) is my max and I would try to make that eighth year a mutual option if you could. Also try to add an opt out early in the contract. Anything past 6 makes me a little uneasy but I'd be willing to eat one bad year on the tail end if he gives us at least his 2022-2023 production

I don't consider 6/190 an overpay based on market rate, however, I do consider it an overpay based on what is best for the Astros. I consider the current offer the Astros put out that has already been turned down the highest I would go based on what would be best for the team.

I would take Correa back over paying Bregman. 4/133 for Correa age 30-33 is better than what Bregman is going to get for longer and older ages.

Swapping Bregman for Correa may actually be an improvement. It's not like the hamster was immune from GIDPs
Carlos has a no trade so that would limit potential return for the Twins. We have Pena who could take over SS for them. In theory Pena is a much better value and that would be a weird trade without a good comp so no clue who says no.
