Pressly was becoming more and more ineffective, is aging, and was also overpaid.

All of these are why he was traded and are accurate regardless of Hader.

Love what Press did for us, but personally I'll be happy to not see him pitch for us again. Major stress bomb almost every time he came into the game last season. Just wish we could have done this sooner so we could have grabbed a quality OFer…

I'll freely admit that I've been a big Pressly critic for a while now. He's made me pretty nervous for the past two seasons. But the dude came up big when the Astros needed him especially in '22. Hope he has success in Chicago.

Yeah, why would the Astros suddenly act desperate?

The only reason the discussions have resumed is one of the following possibilities:
1) He has no offers that are better than our original
2) He has no offers remaining even as good as our original
3) The only teams remaining with competitive offers are ones that he doesn't want to play for.

In any case, we need not be petty, but we don't need to ignore the realities of his market and/or desire to return to Houston either.

We have the leverage here, not Bregman.
