It became public when he threw a hissy fit on the mound for being taken out of games for throwing poorly.
Love Ryan's legacy in Houston, but his adjustment to being the set up man, was not a good moment for him despite telling everyone he was fine with it

I can't recall - did Dana and the team talk to Ryan about Hader while in negotiations? I remember them recalling talking to Ryan once the contract was signed.
I personally believe (no sources) it was initially communicated there would be a more balanced 9th inning approach when the signing went down, then, once Hader started making comments about essentially needing to pitch in the 9th, the situation changed and Ryan was the odd man out. It was kind of after those comments were made when Joe declared Hader the closer before spring training finished (I still don't know if that was a Crane, Brown, or Espada decision to declare the closer role).
So yeah, relationships get messy when your replacement is brought in.

The clinching game he did. He said something to Joe when he got pulled after not being able to finish the inning. That's what ended in him not being in the photo.

I while I do recall him being frustrated and pissed off about being pulled I do think it's worth mentioning we don't know if he was upset at being pulled or upset at himself for pitching like crap.
And for the record these tantrums being mentioned weren't public (besides the end of the season stuff) and were just us message board geniuses doing our thing and deducing/assuming.
Love what Press did for us, but he lost me last year when he didn't come out to celebrate when we clinched the playoffs. He was taken out in the 8th with a man on base and 2 outs because a lefty batter was due up. Made total sense and nothing to tantrum about.

Lefty is really the priority right now I believe. I've heard Verdugo's name mentioned a few times but not Grichuk.
You'll notice that I stated he hit RHP fairly well last year, when he posted an .801 OPS split. I acknowledged that he was righthanded, but it still might be a cost-effective option.

When Hader was tabbed as the closer during last spring training, Pressly was quoted as being "surprised" by the decision. That was probably the start of the relationship decline as I don't think Hader being named before spring training was supposed to go down.

Going back to the discussion regarding Pressly throwing a tantrum, I remember seeing it and thinking what the hell is he upset about. Joe was taking him out to bring a lefty in in a matchup situation. I've always been a fan of Pressly but thought it was out of character for him to display his anger at Joe in such a crucial game deciding situation.
