I wouldn't call that a fleecing. That was about what I would expect for a year of Tucker. Keep in mind we are much higher on Paredes than everyone else seems to be. Hopefully just a situation where he didn't fit that team / ballpark.

Because 2 years ago it was laughable.

We were right in the middle of a WS run
Tucker was cheaper than he is now
Tucker had 3 more years before being a FA
Soto's insane deal had not reset the OF market

A lot has changed in 2 years

Personally I see it as a fleecing, given that Tucker is a one-year rental. I'm high on Paredes, but really excited to have Cam Smith in the fold. He's the gem of the trade IMO.

Baseball Trade Value had it so lopsided their model wouldn't have accepted it.

I do have to wonder if we would have gotten more if we waited until the deadline and teams were desperate. Deadline deals lead to dumb GMs that give up way too much for rentals

Don't sleep on Wesneski either. Our pitching lab will turn him into a solid mid/back-end starter for the next 5 seasons.

They wanted the kid they just got for Pressly as part of the Tucker trade. They've had their eyes on him for a while. Interested to see what we do with him

We got three very solid players for years of control, it was a very good haul indeed

I'd also be aggressive in trying to move Cam Smith up early, potentially as an OF option

I just think of how much we gave up for Kikuchi and Tucker is a lot more valuable than he was. Odds are some GM would have gone all in on Tucker at the deadline and overpaid vastly

Either way, we did get a good deal as long as Cam Smith pans out

I agree. Immediate reaction I thought we got fleeced but i believe time will prove that to be wrong
