Playing the Astros everyday is fun, but it's really hard not to want to play other teams.
Only managed a double today for the Astros. I mocked Vinny Castilla a few days ago and he showed up on here today.

Feels like this stalemate between Bregman and #Astros is really between Boras and Astros
— Patrick Creighton (@PCreighton1) January 29, 2025
Houston still has the best offer on the table - trying to hold out for more when no team has offered more in 3 months seems futile.
With #Mets #Yankees out and #RedSox #Cubs not willing…

The only thing holding up a deal here is Boras' ego not wanting to have to eat the crow of going back to a deal he previously rejected because he thought there would be a better one
The rejection he's referring to is the rejection that happened early in the offseason, not a recent rejection.htxag09 said:
What's really crazy to me is it's like we threw him a lifeline by trading Pressly, making some room, and putting our offer back in play. Still rejected it thinking better is out there....

Long tweet, but it mentions Blue Jays are the only other team with a 6 year offer, and then describes how much of a wreck they are. It's likely Boras's ego that's holding up a deal rather than Alex.Quote:

you don't hit golf balls off the field. You hit from locations in the stands.EastCoastAgNc said:Tearing up turf as well as your jeans I see? Guess we know who to blame for all the missing chunks of turf on opening daytjack16 said:

Not accepted/pushed to the side = rejectedAg_07 said:
Do we know if the Astros offer was rejected by Bregman/Boras or was it just pushed to the side and not accepted?
The more important question is whether it is still valid or have we backed off on length given that we went out and got a new 3B?Ag_07 said:

I wonder if this is going to leave a sticky point with all of his other clients that are on the Astros.n_touch said:Not accepted/pushed to the side = rejectedAg_07 said:

I wonder if this is going to leave a sticky point with all of his other clients that are on the Astros. Do agents get paid yearly or when the contract is signed?

I remember not coming out to celebrate.
cheap access to games was great. i remember signing some petition about rsn's in the 2011-2013 era for the astros, and then the astros gave me a pair of lower bowl tickets every month for a couple years.GigEmMortis said:I try to forget about the 2013 season too07ag said:double today,, couldn't remember 2013 well enoughgigemJTH12 said:agproducer said:

I did like the fact that you could get a ticket to the ballpark for $5 and walk all the way down to the seats by the dugout and never get questioned or asked to move, though

We're debating on doing it. I wish they had prices listed before presale but I guess we'll see when it goes live. Anyone have an idea on it?

Gotcha. Didn't realize that.
I thought I saw them reply to an Astros group somewhere the lowest rate was like $75 but I have no idea what that would include.tjack16 said:txags11 said:

I don't think that is completely accurate, at least according to the Spotrac site. But, it may depend on how you define dirt cheap. His WAR last year was 0.8, but he averaged 2.4 the past half decade. Isn't the rule of thumb around $8-$10 million per WAR? Not sure how a one-year "prove it" contract affects that, or the current OF free agent situation, but I doubt you get him for nothing.
