A potential trade between the Red Sox and Cardinals that would send 3B Nolan Arenado to Boston ‘has legs’ and conversations are ongoing, according to @alexspeier.

it was in a losing effort, but Billy Hatcher's foul pole dinger in 86 off Orosco in the 14th inning was a memorable postseason homer.
Oof. Skipped class at A&M to attend that game. I haven't been to an Astros postseason game since. I won't do it.
I skipped a class in order to go to 2015 ALDS Game 4. Ended up missing a pop quiz worth 10% of my grade
Had to watch that collapse in person while trying to calculate how to salvage my already rough grade in that class
Sounds like it is time for the stros to point at their watch in front of Bregman and let him know their offer is going to start declining $1M per day and 1 year per week starting today.EastCoastAgNc said:A potential trade between the Red Sox and Cardinals that would send 3B Nolan Arenado to Boston ‘has legs’ and conversations are ongoing, according to @alexspeier.

Today Alex Bregman reportedly narrowed his list of finalists to 3. Cubs, Red Sox & Tigers. I believe he will go short term with an opt out.

Good. I never wanted to pay Bregman for longer than 3 years without a club option beyond that. If somebody out there is going to exceed what we offered, I think they are overpaying and will regret the contract 3-4 years from now.MaxPower said:

Gonna be one of those deals where Alex is gonna regret not taking the Astros offer and whatever team signs him will regret the contract.txags92 said:Good. Anthony Rendon undergoing hip surgery as his injuries continue
— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) February 12, 2025
Rendon inked a 7-yr, $245 mil deal starting in 2020. This is season 6 of the deal. He has not played 60 games in a season for Angels (played 52 in 60-gm 2020 season). Had 597 PA in each of the 4 seasons preceding the deal. Has had less than 250 PA in all 5 seasons of the deal. https://t.co/TAFohkFIfg

What a horrific contract for the Angels
Asked if he is in the market for a third baseman, Brown replied “as long as Bregman is a free agent, we’ll continue to have internal conversations about it and it’ll be like that until he signs or whatever happens.” https://t.co/6ZLiQEYxGw

Astros GM Dana Brown said today that there are no new injuries to report among the team's pitchers and catchers. Luis Garcia continues to throw off flat ground because "we don't want to rush him." Lance McCullers Jr. is throwing off a mound

Source: The Marlins have reached agreement on a one-year, major league deal with right-hander Cal Quantrill.
— Alden González (@Alden_Gonzalez) February 12, 2025
Quantrill gives a young Marlins rotation a durable veteran who has a knack for getting ground balls and isn’t far removed from a nice stretch in Cleveland from 2021-22.
I'm old enough to remember when the Astros were perceived to have a glut of talent in the OF and there wasn't enough room on the roster to give guys at Sugar Land a look at the big league level. Oh what a difference a year makes...EastCoastAgNc said:

Probably for the best. After seeing the disastrous Anthony Rendon and Kris Bryant contracts, offering Bregman a 6 year deal at his age would probably be bang-your-head-against-the-wall frustrating in the later years of that deal.MaxPower said:

That's what the Angles will pay Rendon to be injured this year. And it's what they will pay him again next year to go away.
The worst contract ever.
