Within this story is a reminder that Hunter Brown is still PPI eligible, which means the Astros will get a comp pick after the first round in 2026 if Brown finishes top-3 in MVP or Cy Young voting this season - https://t.co/GUpl0OFWWw

https://t.co/D6kophZPPH. Superstar 3B Arenado dealing with the Cards he’s dealt. “My expectation is to be here Opening Day. (That’s) until they tell me something’s going on – then I guess I will adjust. But until I hear that, I’m locked in.”

if you can trade Arenado and put Cam in right, all of a sudden, I really like this lineup regardless of CFAg4life80 said:

The Guardians are re-signing Tyler Naquin…
— Zack Meisel (@ZackMeisel) March 6, 2025
…as a pitcher.
Naquin, 33, was an outfielder for CLE from 2016-20 and last appeared in the majors in 2023. His last three seasons with sufficient data, he ranked in the 99th, 98th and 94th percentiles in arm strength.
Jacob Melton, the Astros' top outfield prospect, says his back tightness came from not monitoring his offseason workload closely enough, but he's back and playing free and easy again, as evidenced by his stolen base Thursday night. https://t.co/H0tjdep5XX via @houstonchron

Cam Smith starts at 3B today with Jon Singleton at 1B.

Back in 2016, when Cam was 13 or so, he met Singleton at Spring Training.
Now they're teammates and infield-mates.

Except Meyers IS batting in the 9th spot, but he doesn't get talked about objectively.SpaceCityAg05 said:
Implied in all of this Meyers discussion is that you have to talk about players objectively (in a vacuum) and in terms of fit.
While everyone wants to have prime Griffey roaming CF, that is not an option most of the time. Meyers has a good enough glove that despite the poor offensive production, he has value and is certainly fine for a 9-hole hitter.
Part of the frustration comes in when you try to squeeze in multiple Meyers-type players into the same lineup. That hurts a lineup. Just line Jeremy Pena - he has great value...as long as he is not hitting outside of the bottom third of the order. Pena hitting 6th is vomit-worthy.
A platoon with Jake has always seemed like an obvious, cost-conscious solution, but for whatever reason, we have not been able and/or willing to find a LH partner for him.
And then in 1 or 2 months when Cam is hitting .215, the board is ready for him to go down to AAA to figure it out.Bag said:if you can trade Arenado and put Cam in right, all of a sudden, I really like this lineup regardless of CFAg4life80 said:

How are Chas and Jake doing against that same pitching if they are so easy to hit?Beat40 said:And then in 1 or 2 months when Cam is hitting .215, the board is ready for him to go down to AAA to figure it out.Bag said:if you can trade Arenado and put Cam in right, all of a sudden, I really like this lineup regardless of CFAg4life80 said:

Not saying that would happen, but it's the most likely scenario. The kid has 32 ABs in AA. He's seeing spring training pitching.

I can play that game too - Yanier is batting .188 against the same pitching. Altuve is batting .182 against the same pitching. Yordan is batting .083 against the same pitching.txags92 said:How are Chas and Jake doing against that same pitching if they are so easy to hit?Beat40 said:And then in 1 or 2 months when Cam is hitting .215, the board is ready for him to go down to AAA to figure it out.Bag said:if you can trade Arenado and put Cam in right, all of a sudden, I really like this lineup regardless of CFAg4life80 said:
