The Astros utilized the pitch clock for Lance McCullers Jr.s' live BP today to get him used to the tempo. McCullers hasn't pitched since the pitch clock came into the game.

Joe Espada earlier today: "I’m not committed to Altuve being the everyday left fielder nor any X player being the everyday second baseman. We are exploring all our options here and we’ll make those decisions when we get towards the end of camp."

Jake's now hitting .333 with a .908 OPS, proving that ST stats are meaningless, since you can quickly turn around an 0-fer into a nice stat line.

Maddux would have 50 less wins with the ABS
When you get a reputation for having pinpoint control, eventually you start to get the benefit of the doubt from the ump more often. Just like Maldonado went from having a reputation for framing bad pitches as strikes to being among the worst in the league at it by the end of his career. The umps started assuming he was doing a frame job and stopped giving him the calls he used to get.Mr.Bond said:jja79 said:

Im not saying he wasn't incredible. But there are countless situations where he'd get calls 4-5 inches off the plate. Just wild
