So long, Orlando. The Winter Meetings are over, and here's everything you need to know about what the Astros did and what's left to do.https://t.co/XYTRin0oE9

I was hoping they'd get something done

Heard some more smoke today about Meyers getting moved. Would make the outfield situation interesting.
Joey Gallo the pitcher is drawing interest from several teams

It would be funny if he made it to the big leagues and gave up more Sac Flys than he ever hit

Feel like this will be a wet fart offseason with lots of speculative reclamation signings
The biggest splash likely being a 1 year JV signing or something, trading Walker for scraps while eating a large portion of the contract, and trading Meyers for middling pitching help

And still not adding a productive left handed hitter to the lineup. Brandon Lowe or Donovan are on my wish list but I just don't have the confidence that Dana will pull it off. Seems like creating a three team trade of some sort would get it done.

I just don't think we have anything any other teams want

That's what happens when you let Bregman, Correa, Springer, Cole, Valdez, and others walk. It's what makes remaining competitive so difficult, unless you're the Dodgers. You can't torpedo a playoff run by trading these stars at the deadline, but you kill your pipeline if you don't. You can start by trading your good prospects for championship rentals, but eventually you only have leftovers to offer. The only option is cash, and you'd better nail every signing to maximize your dollars. The Astros did not achieve this with Abreu and Walker.

You would have 3 LHH in Alvarez, Cole/Melton, and Sanchez.

He said "productive" LHH. 2025 Sanchez and Cole/Melton don't fit that definition and Yordan was out/injured more than half of the season.

Do you think Yordan will be out half the season again? Do you value a small post-trade deadline sample or years of production?

Honestly, yes on Yordan. Until he shows otherwise, he appears pretty fragile.

Some details on Ryan Weiss’ contract with the Astros, per source: the 2027 club option is worth $5 million and has a $500,000 buyout. Weiss will make a $2 million base salary next season, but has escalators based on innings pitched that can max out at an additional $500,000

Then we might as well blow it up. Yordan is too critical to this team's success.
