Altuve doesn't strike me as the "hard conversation" guy, he seems pretty reserved to my uninformed eye and more of a "lead by example" person. Correa I can see doing it, guys like Springer and JV when they were here I could see doing it.


I don't think we know at all what Dana and Joe tried and did't try to do. There is a MLBPA and an owner to deal with. It seems soft from the outside, but who knows what actually happened.

Hell, when Joe and Dana asked about the in-game situation Caesar could have covered for Framber and confirmed it was just a mix up. Can't give discipline for that if they are both going with that story.

Agreed...that's why I caveated it by saying "we think we know" understanding we don't know for sure.

I didn't play baseball much after little league so I don't know what the dynamic is for a high school baseball team much less a pro club but it just seems to me like having one vocal leader vs two or three makes a difference.

Adding Framber won't help Skenes.

They'd be better off putting that money toward someone who can help them win more often than once every 5 days.

Matthews is the long term solution (as of now) for 2B and/or SS. I don't know what we have in him yet but unless we get back someone to be that long term replacement we have trouble.

The problem is his service clock has started and he's blocked by Jose and Jeremy. Where does he realistically have playing time, and what quality are we going to get from him? Aside from the series in Arizona last year, he was pretty much 0-fer offensively.

His AAA #s aren't exactly impressive either. I would do that trade in a heartbeat. Baseball Trade Value shows it as a significant underpay too.

Again...Matthews is a nice prospect but he's an unknown.

It wouldn't be crazy to take the known who is under team control until 2030.

I'm confident the tigers would happily sign skubal to the same contract, but also that skubal is looking for more years. Skubal might get 6-8 at that salary
