If that's a hard cap, exactly what do they expect the teams like LA are going to do?
Get grandfathered in? That would take 10 plus years for them to work all their existing deferred contracts back below it. By then you will have another CBA fight.
Make them get under it? Yeah that's never happening. The union would never allow it.

While you're correct, could you imagine if the Dodgers had to trade guys to get under that cap? Utter chaos.

The players should, rightfully, point out that the Dodgers wouldn't be able to spend so much if MLB didn't eff up the tv deal sharing agreement coming out of their bankruptcy. The current "unfair advantage" is one entirely of MLB's making and it's absurd the players have to make concessions to solve it.Mathguy64 said:

that salary floor looks too high
the Pirates, Marlins, Rays, etc.., are not going to be profitable with $140 MM payroll even if they have a good team
floor should be around $100 MM...maybe less

Then they need to move. Put a AAA team there.
There's markets that would be profitable at that level, and make the game more competitive.

I can confirm - having an office walking distance from Daikin is quite nice.
